Honey

Honey

I adopted Honey when she was 4 months old, when her previous owner had to give her up for allergies. Honey is a mixed breed where the breeds are not known. But she is an absolute cutie! My thought in regards to her breeds is a Belgain Malinois (there is definitely a Shepherd of some sort, but I don't think German is right), with maybe some Border Collie to give her some long hair and the short height. Honey presently at 7.5 going on 8 months stands at 18inches tall and 22 lbs. She loves to run and play and has an insane amount of energy. She plays at the dog park 3 times a week, which is a decrease from her original 5 times a week (we moved further from the dog park that she likes. She and I don't like the park near new house). She is enrolled in Intermediate obedience to prepare her for Agility Training. My pup loves jumping over furniture and making obstacle courses with the living room furniture and running around or dragging my roommates dog around through it. She loves dogs big and small, so long as she is the Dominant in the play (we found that out yesterday, another puppy was more Alpha than her and she was frustrated by it but still wanted to play!) So is a very happy puppy and definitely keeps my hands and days full! If you think you can better come up with a possible breed mix, by all means, I'm definitely open to suggestions. My assumptions are based on photos of other Belgian Malinois that look similiar to her at her age 6/29/10 Update: So Honey is now nearly 17 months old, stands at little less than 20" tall and weighs in only at 28.4 lbs. We have been doing agility since January, and she has her first fun meet on 7/9. She is definitely a handful. Very smart-knows when its 6pm its time to go play with her friends at the park, and god forbid I'm not ready. Additionally knows what it means when the alarm goes off (only goes off on sunday at 650am) as it means its agility day and she is bopping all over the place trying to get me out the door and doesn't allow me breakfast! Very active but slowing down a bit as she is approaching that 2 yr mark that I keep being told I will be happy for! She's a cute little thing. Loves her little bunny (I have a 8 yr old rabbit), loves little dogs but pretty comfortable with big dogs -particularly the VERY big ones! Definitely looks like a border collie now (when she has her coat-presently looks like a shepherd because i had her shaved for the warm weather). So we are very confident in these two breeds being the winners but still stumped as she is a small shepherd/collie mix, but we have seen other dogs that resemble her and are about the same size (she has a friend after her agility class that is her identical twin, only male and about 5 lbs heavier...we saw another male that looked like the two of them but he was near 50lbs- but not nearly as lean as honey and murphy-the male dog at agility). Honey has this thing where she is VERY stubborn and we have gone thru just about every dog food bag imaginable. She doesn't like kibble much. Finally seem to have a diet thats working where its Hollistic kibble freefeed with some homemade dinners, which I've heard is healthier for active dogs anyways, so I'm happy with it. Shes a happy pup and that is well loved by human and dogs. :)
