Omni

Omni

Meet the wonderful, adoptable dog Omni. Omni really needs help being adopted because he is big and clumsy and people don't see past that to his good nature. He came from the city shelter where he was surrendered by his owner. Omni is a neutered male, bull mastiff and pit mix, 2 years old and about 65 lbs. He is an energetic dog that still acts like a puppy. He sometimes doesn't know his own strength, but Omni doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He is super friendly and sweet with people and dogs and we are slowly training him to become a better walker. Omni is in need of a loving forever home, and is located in Brooklyn. Please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information!

Chance

Chance

Chance is a male pit/lab mix. He is about 4 years old and 55lbs. He is a strong dog that loves people. He is energetic, but also likes to sit down on a park bench with you and lay his head in your lap. Chance has had a tough life, but remains as sweet as ever. He needs lots of exercise and loves to have fun!

Fabian

Fabian

Fabian is between 2 and 3 years old, but he is truly a puppy at heart. He greats you with jumping licks and doesn't realize that he's about 75lbs of Pit Bull mix. He was listed as an American Bull dog mix by the city pound, but we just aren't sure about that. All we do know is that he is a big mush. Fabian is well behaved, knows some basic commands and loves to cuddle on your lap. He's got lots of energy and is looking for a family who will be able to give him love and lots of exercise! He loves treats and would be easily trainable. Fabian has a scar on his side from a dog bite, but he still gets along well with other dogs and cats too! He also has all of his shots and is neutered. It's obvious to us that Fabian grew up in a home and he is just yearning for a new forever home of his own. Please come meet Fabian at our shelter in Brooklyn! Please visit http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information on adopting this great cuddle bug!

Aponte

Aponte

Aponte is a sweet, gentle and alert doggy who gets along with other dogs and loves his people. He has a perpetual smile on his face. He bonds very closely with his people and can be over-protective, unless properly trained. He is also a strong and sturdy boy, and his girth makes him even more cuddlier. He is a very good walker, except for occasional stops for belly rubs. He is anxiously awaiting his forever home.

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy is a male American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He is nearly a year old, so we think he'll grow just a bit more. He is 45lbs right now and after he fills out, he'll probably grow to be close to 60lbs. We see some signs of shepherd and possibly boxer in him, but one thing is for sure, Sammy is 100% pure love! He is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog, with a great personality and a touch of goof-ball thrown in. He was found as a stray by the city pound, though he probably wasn't living on the streets long before he was found. Sammy was adopted from us when he was only 6 months old, but then returned, because he got too big. We were pretty disappointed at the people that had taken him then, so we are being very careful to find a solid forever home for this little boy. We hope you'll come meet him soon!

Sasha

Sasha

Sasha is a sweetheart of a little dog. He is ten years old and a Miniature Poodle mix. He is only 14lbs, but he is all heart. He is soft and adorable and is great with children, dogs and likely cats too. All Sasha wants is a safe and secure home with loved ones. He doesn't like being alone though, at least at the shelter, so he would do best in a home with another dog, or you can easily carry him to work! Sasha loves to be held and really wants the chance at a happy life! Come meet this cutie!

Sleepy Pete

Sleepy Pete

Sleepy Pete is an American Pit Bull Terrier, three years old and about 64lbs. Sleepy Pete was so named, because he was found sleeping behind a park bench. He is in great health and is an all around wonderful dog. He loves to go for walks, he is great on a leash and doesn't pull. He's also very social with other dogs! Pete enjoys meeting new people.. old and young. He also likes to snuggle and play with his toys. Pete is 100% housebroken and knows some basic commands. For more info, please contact the BARC shelter at info@barcshelter.org

Hennesey

Hennesey

Hennesey is a lovely and beautiful dog. She gets along with some other dogs, as she is an alpha female. Her friends here are generally the calm, mature dogs. She also loves people and she will cuddle with you all day, or turn over and wait for belly rubs. She does have a habit of over-protecting her people though, so she needs to be monitored when visitors come over. Hennesey loves water. She's one of the few dogs that enjoys a good bath! She would be happiest in an active home, because she has plenty of energy. Hennesey loves runs in the park too, but she is a squirrel hunter. Hennesey has been with the Shelter for 2 years now, and is ready to find her forever home. Sadly, Hennesey is definitely not good with cats!! To meet her or any of our other wonderful dogs, please visit the BARC Shelter in Brooklyn. If you are interested in adopting her, you can also visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Kenneth

Kenneth

Kenneth is about 1 1/2 years old and fully grown, weighing about 45lbs. He is a male Golden Retriever, but has a touch of black on his tail which looks a bit like a German Shepherd's. He is extremely sweet with people and full of youthful energy. He loves going for long walks in the park, enjoys running and playing fetch. Sadly, Kenny isn't a fan of some other dogs. Perhaps it's from his time on the streets, but when he spots another dog, he barks and jumps at them. For the past few months, we have been training Kenny and he is a lot better now on his walks, but because he still is a bit unpredictable, we wouldn't recommend him to a home with small children. He would never be aggressive towards them, but he might bowl them over trying to get at another dog. However, we do think that that he can learn to get along with other dogs, if he is properly introduced and accepts they won't hurt him. We do not know what he would be like around cats. Kenneth will need an adopter who will continue his training program. We are sure that he will make someone a wonderful and loving companion. If you are interested in adopting him, or seeing any of our other dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Sam

Sam

Sam was found lost in the park and brought to us from the city pound and we were immediately captivated by his bright blue eyes, which say Husky to us, but the rest of him is loving American Staffordshire Terrier. He is wonderful and sweet and a very people friendly and obedient dog, who would love an active home. He is a bit excitable around other dogs, so he'll need patient humans to give him some training and socialization, but he aims to please. This excitability is probably also because he's a young dog, somewhere between 2 and 3 years old. This compact little dog is about 45 lbs and is fully grown. If you are interested in adopting Sam or seeing any of our other great dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Mango

Mango

Mango has had a tumultuous life and she's only a year old. As a young pup, she was found wandering out in the cold Winter by the police and brought to the city pound, where she would likely have been euthanized, since there are so many abandoned Pit Bulls. Luckily, we saw her and brought her to our no-kill animal shelter instead. She was the happiest puppy and we loved her and found her a home. We thought it would be her forever home, but we discovered 6 months later that she was at the city pound once more and was requested to be euthanized. Mango was lucky that she was microchipped, because that allowed her to be returned to us instead. We were so sad that this litttle girl was abandoned once more and it has become clear that she's received some physical abuse too. But, we've put this happy little girl through some basic obedience training and also socialized her with some other young dogs. She is now a very well behaved little lady and is looking for a great home. She might be a bit insecure in the beginning, but with the right parents and some time, she will thrive. She is active, but only about 45lbs. She will fill out a little bit more, but she's basically fully grown. If you are interested in adopting Mango or seeing any of our other great dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Biggie

Biggie

Biggie is an adorable little boy that was surrendered to the city pound with a very bad case of mange and serious malnutrition. He was completely bald from the top of his head down to his neck and patches of fur were missing all over his body. He looked like a leopard, but he was in no way wild or ferocious. From the first moment we met Biggie, he's been nothing but sweet and lovable. He was only 6 months old at the time and they said he was a Sharpei mix, but now at ten months of age, some of his wrinkles have disappeared because he's eating healthy meals. Biggie has also grown all of his hair back, but what still remains is the most friendly and lovable dog we've ever met. He greets everyone with an amazingly dextrous hip wiggle, and loves to give licks to all people and dogs too.Biggie is nearly 60 lbs and will probably grow a bit more, but so will his loving heart. If you are interested in adopting Biggie or seeing any of our other great dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Gemini

Gemini

Gemini is a super dog! He is energetic, friendly, is great with people and has been well socialized with other dogs. He is a bit excitable when he gets out of the shelter, but that's because he's been cooped up all day. Gemini is a shepherding mix and really needs time outdoors and lots of exercise. Gemmy comes to us as an owner surrender, meaning that for whatever reason, his family couldn't care for him anymore. When he was brought to us, he was also a bit overweight. He weighs in at just under 60 lbs, but he needs to lose 6-8lbs, but that's very hard to do at our animal shelter. He would really appreciate an active home and family, so he can lose those excess pounds. Perhaps another friendly dog in the household too. He would love to go for runs and play with dogs in the dog run. Gemini is between 2 and 3 years old. If you are interested in adopting Gemini, or seeing any of our other dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Dutch

Dutch

This is Dutch. He is the old man at our shelter and many of us call him Grandpa. He is a male yellow Lab and Pit Bull mix, about 70lbs, and 14 years old. Despite his advanced age, Dutch is healthy and energetic. He loves going out on walks and with Spring approaching, Dutch has a bounce to his step. He is perfectly housetrained, a great walker, and an all around easygoing dude. He is best friends here with Molly, actually, she is his younger girlfriend (she's half his age!). They love to cuddle together. In fact, all of the volunteers at the shelter love to cuddle with Dutch. He puts everyone in a really good mood and you can feel the positive energy that comes from this canine Zen Master. He is looking for a quiet and warm home (without steps) to spend his final years. He's gone a long time without. He's been at our shelter over 2 years and was brought here, because the city agency rescued him from an empty lot. We also think he'd be fine with cats.

Buster

Buster

Buster is your favorite wingman. He's the dog that you can hang out with for good times and support. Due to unstable owners, he's had a rough ride in his life and he's been bounced around from foster to foster. As a result, he's pretty much unfazable and not at all bitter. He's a resilient, charming and low maintenance dog that doesn't require your constant attention. Still, he enjoys affection and human companionship and approaches life with a serene, even keeled outlook. Buster is 8 years old, a purebred male Boxer, and he weighs a slender 60 pounds. If you are interested in adopting Buster, or seeing any of our other wonderful dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.

Jaba

Jaba

What can we say about this silly girl with the big bat ears? Jaba is a medium-sized female American Staffordshire Terrier mix, but perhaps also French Bulldog. She is definitely 100% pure joy! We love this little girl and she's had the most unfortunate luck. Having lost several homes through no fault of her own, she keeps her head high and her wanderings haven't dampered her spirits a bit. She is adorable and kind. She is crate trained, house broken, and is good walking on her leash. While she does have some spurts of energy throughout the day, she is generally calm and loves to snuggle up on the couch and watch tv at night. Jaba gets along with some dogs, as long as she is properly introduced to them, but has been known to get into a few scuffles in the dog run, but nothing serious. She is also mellowing out as she gets older. At 4 years of age, she's sadly spent half her life in shelters. If you are interested in adopting Jaba, or seeing any of our other wonderful dogs, please visit: http://www.barcshelter.org/ for more information.
