Kane

Kane

Kane came into the house and in an instant, his sweet puppy personality won over Graycie and Nick. He always has a great smile, and he's affectionately known as Senor Sassy Pants because he always has an opinion to share! Most days, Kane can be found laying in his swimming pool soaking up the sun, or patrolling the back yard to keep our family safe from the neighborhood squirrels! If he's not doing important work, he's sound asleep on the sofa, all four feet up in the air. I have learned so much from Kane, first and foremost that Cardigans are a special breed. This sable dog is the light of my life, and the foundation for my love of Cardigans.

Gizmo

Gizmo

Gizmo is truly a special boy. He lived his first six years with a family, and toward the end of that time, he was hit by a car and had to have surgery to pin his hip. He got pretty sick and his family was unable to keep him. They did not contact his breeder, but they did contact Cardigan rescue. The family was going to take Giz to a shelter if rescue couldn't take him. By asking some questions, Cardigan rescue figured out who Gizmo's breeder was and contacted her. She coordinated Gizmo's transport and vet care. Because his breeder was so far away, I agreed to meet the family and keep Gizmo until he could be evaluated by the vet, and then arrange transport back to his breeder. Gizmo came to me a very smelly dog, with long nails, raw skin, severe anxiety, and terrible bowel disease. I offered to keep him for a while since I had the time to try and work on his health and anxiety issues. He and Kane really hit it off, and Kane's nurturing personality seemed to help Gizmo's anxiety. After a short time and one failed adoption to a wonderful family, it was evident that Gizmo needed Kane, and Gizmo joined our family. I'm happy to report that Gizmo has overcome all of his health problems, and his anxiety is almost completely manageable. I'm so proud of this silver-faced little man. He has blossomed into a silly old man since his arrival late in 2002. And don't let his innocent grin fool you, this dog is the master of finding trouble, especially if it involves food! Gizmo's keen nose and his never-ending quest for food made him a natural at tracking, and perhaps some day he'll be able to add a TD to his name.

Sydney

Sydney

The first thing everyone notices about Sydney is her front left leg. It certainly speaks to her personality that she stands out in a crowd! She is so energetic and very loving. When someone comes to the door she is the first to run over there and bark! She loves going for her walks and really enjoys the company of other dogs. This little girl is very special!

Breezy

Breezy

Breezy is our beautiful red girl, full of wags and kisses. We affectionately call her the "pixie" flitting around the house. Maturing much more slowly than her sister, Sydney. As a pup, Breezy's front was impeccable. One too many leaps from the back of the sofa landed Breezy on crate rest for several weeks after surgery for a growth plate injury. The surgery was a success, and while the right front foot turns out more than desirable, the bones and joints are healthy, and her elbows passed OFA with no problem. Breezy loves hanging out at home, going for rides in the car, and having all her brothers fawn over her. She really does not see much use for dog shows or classes, and her expression when she stares back at me says it all. If dogs could roll their eyes, Breezy would! I think she figures she listens to her mother at home, so why bother with stupid classes

Hawk

Hawk

Hawk is a Swedish Vallhund. These Viking cattle herders are a delightful breed, intelligent, active, and sweet. Hawk fits in nicely with the Cardigans, and he's a willing, happy, and all-around wonderful dog.

Nick

Nick

Nick was originally my foster dog saw him at a local shelter when a friend wanted to adopt a dog, and I went along with her to the shelter. I saw this skinny, brown and white puppy with a spotted belly wagging his tail. I put my fingers through the wire to skritch under his chin, and in the blink of an eye, the puppy threw himself on the ground belly up, wanting me to rub his belly. He had no idea that I couldn't reach that far. I left the shelter without him, because I had no intention of adopting a dog. Three days later, while on a business trip out of town, I could not get that sweet face out of my head. I called the shelter and arranged to adopt him on his very last day. He was due to be euthanized. I picked him up at the vet clinic when I got back into town. The techs at the clinic suggested his name because he was saved from euthanasia the " In The Nick of Time So", Nick came to live with me on a temporary basis while I searched for a Forever Home. Nick wormed his way into my heart early on, and as he grew from a 22 pound skinny pup to an 80 pound tank of a dog, it became apparent that he was going to stay in the family

Savannah

Savannah

Savannah is a loving old girl. Unlike the other dogs she HATES the snow and dreads having to go out in it. I got her from a rescue where she was found a day earlier skinny and starving on the streets. As soon as I saw her I knew she was going to be a natural part or our family.
