Profile: Hello ! I'm Mary, I live in Glyfada, Greece (near Athens, the capital of Greece). Our city is by the sea, it's a touristic spot buzzing with life all around the clock and the year. I live with my husband in an appartment. We have two daughters who are married and have a child each, so that makes us happy grandparents. We have one doggie, Hector (2) who's with us right now. Two months ago our other doggie, Suki(14) died of cancer and we can't get over it yet. I always had dogs for the last 32 years, sometimes one, sometimes two and sometimes we had more dogs staying with us till we could find them a proper home. The whole family is crazy about dogs, we consider them part of our lives and we wouldn't be able to live without them....! All my life I've been dreaming of owning a farm where I could have many many dogs, give them a home and care for them . this dream never came true but,who knows, may be one day .......

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Son of my dog Bobby (german dachshund) and a friend's bitch (american dachshund),he's been with us since his very tender age of 6 weeks because his mom was sick and couldn't breast feed her three puppies. He's been clever and sweet, with his own character and habits. A loud barker, he could stand on his back legs up to 10 minutes, he loved children's toys (even more than children do), loved to open suitcases and search them to the bottom, to find some toy for him inside...! In Christmas he always knew which one was his gift and sat upon the box all night waiting to be opened next day. He loved us all at home but didn't like strangers,he even bit some of our guests. Then, we made it a habit to isolate him in the bedroom, each time we had guests. He was a happy dog, loved the sea, loved stray dogs, loved playing with stones, loved the countryside and running in the woods. For 14 years he's been with us, we've been places with him, we've shared a lot of happy memories, all this until this last September of 2009. He hadn't been feeling well from the beginning of this year. We thought it was because he was getting old. Middle September we found out he had a malignant tumor in his stomach and wouldn't live long. On the 19th of September Suki left us forever.

Hector

Hector

Hector is the sweetest doggie on earth. Cuddly, lovable, playful, of a happy nature and wonderful friendly character. Loves playing with his ball (he's got a big selection of balls) , going for long walks with me, playing with other dogs or with little children. Always anxious to please , loves car rides and hates to be left alone at home, especially after our older dog Suki died 2 months ago. He's got a sister, Hera, who's been adopted by some friends of ours, I've got some pictures of them together, the day before she went to her new home. They haven't met eversince....!

Rocky , a pedigree doggie, was with us since he was 1 1/2 months old, when my husband saw him in the window of a pet shop and felt he should have him by all means !... He was the most amazing dog of the whole world. When little he chewed practically everything, new Dr. Scholl's sandals, toilet paper, newspapers, carpets, furniture, you name it. Later he became very good, wonderful character, friendly, always anxious to please and to work for us. We lived in a 4 storey house and all day he was up and down the stairs carrying small things (money, cola cans, small tools, shoes, clothes etc) and doing errands for the members of our family . Once my younger daughter gave him a bag containing big and heavy cabbage to bring it upstairs but he couldn't carry it so he left it down. Playful, friendly, sociable, happy, obedient, clever and of the sweetest character and attitude. Loved the sea and swimming, loved playing ball, car rides with his head and ears hanging out the window, the countryside, and all other dogs. He hated cats, once he chased one of them and was badly scratched. He came home bleeding all over the place but that didn't make him change his mind about chasing them.... he did it anyway !

Dolly

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Dolly is a miniature Yorkshire Terrier. she was brought home by my younger daughter who had a broken knee at that time and wanted to have a pet to keep her company the endless hours she had to stay at home. She was a little as a mouse at first, we always felt afraid we might step over her and crush her. But things went OK and soon she grew up to be a cuddly, cute, clever, sweet, but bossy and very strong minded tiny doggie. She was bossing around all the male dogs of the house. We had 2 more of our own, plus 3 homeless puppies that we found in a garbage tin and kept with us till we found proper homes for them. Dolly wanted to be the boss ( and she managed it) to all those doggies. She was playful and sweet but whenever she wanted something she wanted it immediately. She wanted to be the center of all the attention. Very sociable, liked all people and all dogs, except Bobby, a dachshund we adopted much later. When I was busy ironing or cooking she'd start barking in a very demanding tone, to make me leave whatever I was doing and just be with her..... In winter, when going out I carried her into my jacket, on my chest and she poked her head out in front. In airplanes and hotels etc, they always thought she was a fluffy toy, not a real dog...!

Bobby was a puppy we adopted, after we lost our beloved Rocky and we had only tiny doggie , Dolly. His mom had a litter of 7 puppies and he was the most friendly and cute of all( at least that's what we thought). He was very little when we brought him home , just 4 weeks old. His mom couldn't cope with 7 puppies, it was too much for her owners to keep the puppies more. Bobby was an extremely active, lovable sweet doggie, very cute, oversexed, clever, sociable and healthy eater . He lived with us for 12 years, giving us his endless love and devotion. When he was 1 year and 3 months old he mated with my friend's american dachshund and 3 puppies were born, two male and one female. One male and the female looked exactly like Bobby, so I chose to take the 3rd puppy, and that was Suki. Bobby and Suki lived with us (together with Dolly ) , they loved each other and played endless hours but also they used to fight sometimes, monopolizing my love to them. Bobby loved running in the woods, loved the snow, playing with his ball and all bitches in the neighborhood. Like I said, he had a healthy appetite, he liked almost everything, loved green peppers, and carrots, cabbage and carrot salad with lots of lemon juice... Traveled with us places, he hated air travelling but he was always happy when we arrived our destination. He developed cancer in his genitals when he was ten. He was operated, the tumor removed and he seemed to be okay. Two years lated, however, the cancer had advanced to other organs and there was nothing we could do. We had him put to sleep at the age of 12.

I was a pedigree english Cocker Spaniel born in a farm, somewhere in East london. The people who later adopted me came to the farm, saw me, loved me at first sight and decided to have me. I went with them first to Athens Greece for 4 months, later to Khartoum, Sudan ( where they lived at that time). I lived with them for 6 years there.I was loved and pampered and felt like a princess. During summer holidays they'd take me to Greece with them. Once going from Khartoum to Athens my crate wasn't taken out of the aircraft in Athens(it was SWISSAIR, a Swiss company). By mistake they took me to Geneva and then back, while my mom was about to have a fit. I was in that crate for about 15 hours!! On the 7th year of my life my family moved to Greece. We lived there for one more year at granny's and as we prepared to move to our own house , I got hit by a car and died right then and there....

This is a tribute to little Hector's #1 memory, who died so young and innocent, so unexpectedly .....! He was playful, sweet, intelligent and lovable. He was brought from Hungary to our country for a chain of pet-shops.We got him, loved and adored him and lost him very unexpectedly at the age of 17 months, when he suddenly tugged at his lead and set himself free from my daughter's grasp, trying to follow a stray dog, run into the street and was hit by a fast running car !He died after 10 hours of terrible pain and agony, trying to breathe. The only reason we didn't have him put to sleep instantly after the accident, was that the vet gave us hope that he might survive the accident with proper care.
