Profile: Hello. My name is Taffy. My mom adopted me in May 2010 when my name was Sandy which explains my blog url. I had been at the ASPCA shelter on 92nd Street in Manhattan for four months. I was brought there on my birthday, Christmas Day, by my original parents who said they could no longer afford me. I had pneumonia and weighed 17 pounds. I believe they turned me in to the shelter where they knew I would receive medical attention. I was four and a half years old. In January, a woman adopted me because her daughter thought she ought to have a dog. She returned me to the shelter after a week. I didn't like her, either. Another woman came along in March. Same experience. Then, along came my current mom in May. I put her through her paces. I threw up every morning, peed and pooped all over the house, had her taking me out four and five times a day and barked for hours on end. Mom just hugged me, cleaned up the messes and said we would work it out. She took me to a great vet who told mom how to clear up my skin problems and put me on a hypo-allergenic diet. I am also hypo-thyroid and take medicine twice a day. I guess I'm pretty spirited because mom is always in trouble with the neighbors for letting me run off leash. We go to the park some times but it's boring. We live in a beautiful condominium setting in northern Westchester county, NY. There are lots of trees and grass, chipmunks and rabbits, squirrels and deer. I am six years old now and healthy thanks to my vet, diet and grooming. Mom takes me everywhere with her, even if I have to wait in the car. There are lots of places she goes which like me and I can run around the stores and gardens. Mom is a jazz singer and when she practices, I like to stretch out on the floor, throw my hind legs out behind me and just groove. At night, I love being groomed and hop up on mom's bed and stretch out to let her know it's time to brush me. I think I'll keep this mom. We've adopted each other!
