Archie

Hello Chicago! My name is Archie and Im the cutest darned little thing. I am what you call an Olde English Bulldog puppy. I have a little English Bully in me and lots of American bully. So I have longer legs, a longer snout, and a silly tail, but I still have the bully wrinkles on my face, and my big bully personality! What else can you say about a super duper 14 week old puppy who loves to romp around, have a blast, and nibble on fingers and toes, and many other tasty things? I came to CEBR with an interesting story to tell. I spent my first 11 weeks in a puppy mill you know, those places where puppies are bred, the parents arent well cared for, and all of us are just a dime a dozen? Well, one day the pet stores buyers rolled in and were picking the puppies they wanted to sell in their stores. They passed right over me. The reason is because I was missing my back right paw. It really hurt when I lost it. My mom chewed it off! Can you believe it? But now Im learning to cope with my peg leg. When CEBR first picked me up, they called me Captain Ahab but they decided to rename me something a little less silly so now Im Archie. I generally get along well on my hind leg, but because Im missing a paw pad, Im really sensitive to hot and cold surfaces, and even bumpy or gravely surfaces. Through my life you are going to have to be very careful about how I use that leg and cant walk me on the sidewalks, and in the cold. In all reality, I probably wont be a dog to take long walks with, but rather one to have fun in the house and yard with you! I will need a boot and lots of soft surfaces. I was even told that only time will tell if it is better to remove my leg altogether so that we dont risk any abrasion on the bottom of my leg which could lead to a bad infection. Either way, Im spunky and learn to get around just fine! I play like any other dog with 4 feet! Today I love to be a baby and be cuddled and held in your lap, but every day as I get older and older, I am becoming more independent, curious and just cause trouble everywhere I go just like a puppy should! But at the end of a long hard day, I like to crawl into bed (with you!) and cuddle in for the night.

Hi! How ya all doing? My name is Mable! We have never met but that is all about to change! I am a 48 pound, Olde English Bulldog who is about to celebrate my 3rd Birthday in glorious style. I came to CEBR because my previous family didnt make time for me & couldnt afford to take proper care of me. I wont go in to all the details because I am in the happiest of places right now. Thanks to CEBR, I can open my beautiful eyes again! I had entropion on my upper & lower eye lids (thats where the eye lids roll in to the eye socket) but I am healing fine from the procedure. Like I said, I am so excited to be able to see again that I feel like the luckiest dog on the planet! I am also up-to-date on shots, spayed, micro-chipped and, all around, just super fabulous! I have to admit something I dont have the best manners. I get so excited when my foster mom & dad come home that I just jump and spin and cause quite a scene. My foster parents are helping me learn how to keep my jumping under control (but I know they secretly love seeing me so happy). Everyday gets better and better & I settle down more quickly than the day before. Im not used to all of this love and attention so I just lose my mind. My forever home would have to be willing to help me with my manners and basic training. I am 99% house-trained. Ive had a couple of accidents but I also just recovered from a UTI so that made it hard for me to hold it sometimes. I usually tell my foster parents when I have to go out by spinning in circles and heading towards the door. They sometimes have to leave me home alone for about 5 hours while they go to work and - Im very proud of this - Ive never had an accident! Hooray for me! When they are home they let me out every 2 or 3 hours and I listen really well when they tell me to "go potty. Sometimes I wanna tell them Geez, people! I know what to do out here! Other than that, I generally listen really well when I am not jazzed up. I come when I am called. I know how to sit sometimes. We are working hard on that because no one ever took the time before. Hey, I am a beautiful work in process! Like I mentioned before, Im an Olde English so Im not your typical Bully. For example, I dont snore like most bulldogs which means you can be assured a quiet nights sleep. I am also more athletic and have a bit more energy. I love to play fetch and run around the house but the nice thing about me is that after about 10 or 15 minutes of activity I am ready to sack out on the couch with or without you. Well, thats not entirely true. If my foster mom isnt sitting with me then I am following right behind her. My foster Dad calls me her shadow. I just dont want to miss any loving or those yummy peanut butter treats she gives me! My most favorite part of the day is when my foster parents say those 5 magic words - lets go for a walk! I can hardly stop wagging my stubby little tail & sit nice while they put my harness on. Once I get out there, Im in heaven! Free to breathe that sweet, fresh air, and take in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. Oh, boy, there is nothing quite like it. I am a very good walker and my foster family practices with me twice a day. I pulled a little bit on the first few walks but I am getting better every day with constant reminders to slow down, followed by lots of praise. And if you like to run, Im definitely your girl! I have long legs and am very athletic so as soon as I heal from my surgeries my foster mom is taking me running! Yippee!!! Tummy rubs, head scratches and lots of praise and lovin are my absolute favorite. I cant get enough of love and attention. Clearly, I didnt get much in my previous life. If you are interested in me, they said to send us a message, a.s.a.p! Oh yeah, and I loooooove comments :)

Meet Jewel! This sweet girl is just three years old and is as love-a-bull as can be! Jewel will make a family extremely proud and happy to have her because, well, shes a gem!! And read on theres something extremely special about this little girl. Jewel was an owner surrender for no fault of her own. Shes in great health and is very well behaved. Jewel loves to play games such as Tag with the leaves outside, Hopscotch as she pounces on shadows and she LOVES to play with her peanut butter filled Kong. When she is not playing, youll find her cuddling with humans on the couch and giving kisses whenever she can. She also is great with her kennel. Jewel sleeps in her crate often and finds comfort and safety there. If left outside her crate, she will dig or scratch at the door. So crating is the best option. She is mostly housetrained. This is a work in progress but she is very smart and is learning quickly!! Jewel is also great on a leash. She does not pull much at all and has great endurance. Finally, when it comes to finding her home, well need to make sure she gets along with any dogs you may have first. Shes fine with some canines but not all. Well introduce her to you and your pack prior to adoption! Youll notice Jewel is mostly white with black spots! I think youll agree, shes a beautiful Bull-mation! But thats not the only unique trait she has. Jewel cant hear shes deaf. But dont feel sorry for her. She has no idea what she is missing and she is as normal as any other dog out there! Shes learning hand signals and communicates with humans and other dogs using her senses of sight and smell. In fact, shes been extremely easy to foster despite the lack of hearing. But because of the deafness, its extremely important she be in a home thats fenced. Or well need a good guarantee she will not get outside off leash! Theres no calling this girl back when she finds something to run after! If you are interested, please message me.

Mona

Mona

Hi there! My name is Mona and I am just about the most beautiful, perfect English bulldog gal you will ever meet. I was adored and truly loved by my previous owners. Unfortunately, they recently moved to a new, much smaller apartment and are expecting some life changes. With all these things going on, they just did not have enough time for me. So, with a very heavy heart, they made the decision to contact CEBR. They know Im in great hands and that I will find a wonderful home where I can get all the attention and love that I deserve. I am about 3½ years old with the softest, caramel color coat you will ever see. A gal really shouldnt have to talk about her weight but I happen to be in fantastic shape at just about 45 lbs. Im your average size bully girl, spayed, microchipped and will be up-to-date on my shots before Im adopted. Honestly, my foster mom and dad are having a hard time finding any real issues with me. You see, my former owners took the time to teach me a lot of great things. I know sit, stay and can give high-fives. I dont get on the furniture and I dont beg at the dinner table. I am housebroken and I get along fairly well with my foster brother and sisters. I can be a little bossy at times but Im really just trying to figure out where I fit in with my new pack of friends. My foster mom calls me Mona Lisa because I am more beautiful than a Leonardo da vinci painting. She says that I am gorgeous inside and out! I love to lie by your feet and get a belly or butt rub. That is just about my favorite thing in the world. Going for a walk is pretty high on my list too. I do forget my leash manners sometimes and will rush ahead. Reinforcing my basic manners training is going to be necessary. Im in great shape and unlike my foster bully sisters, can walk a lot further than just around the block. What a bunch of wimps! I really, really, really, really love people and I get all wiggly, giggly around them. I have the cutest tail that goes into high-gear when I meet you. I have a tendency to jump up on you but just tell me down and I listen. I just want to please you and be loved. Im on a pretty tight schedule at my foster home which works great for me. I dont like being left alone for too long, about 5 hours maximum. So, a home were I can get out mid-day would be fantastic. Id love a new home where I can get lots of love and attention. Other dogs are okay but Id probably have to meet them to make sure. Im not positive about cats, actually, what are cats? I seem to be fine with kids too. In fact, they can be a blast! My foster mom and dad know that its going to be tough to let me go. Ive only been with them a short time but have already wiggled my way into their hearts. Once you meet me and gaze into my chocolate brown eyes, you will completely understand. .

Gertie

Gertie

Im Gretle. Gertie for short.. Im a tiny little bundle of sweetness who minds my own business and stays out of the way. I like to do my own thing, a girl my age knows what she wants. Im very well mannered and very quiet, except for the snoring my foster mom keeps laughing about (but I barley believe her that I could be that loud. Please, Im only 40lbs.) My foster mom was really careful with me at first thinking Id be nervous with new people in a new place, with all the sounds of the city, but COME ON I can barely hear them, and I love everybody I set my eyes on. I mostly have two moods; Sweet and Sleeping. And I can pretty much get my sleep anywhere and be comfier than can be. Believe me, Im a sleeper; in my crate, on the floor, on the couch, upside down, half way off it doesnt matter where you put me or what position Im in. And dont expect me to wake up too easy, you are going to have to make a lot of noise coming through that door if you expect me to interrupt my sleep and greet you. I dont need much, and dont ask for much of anything at all. I dont beg (Im not much of an eater anyway) and dont whine or bark. If you put food out for me, I will nibble on it here or there when I want, but a girls gotta watch her figure. Im also pretty use to my crate as long as your give me a nice fluffy blanket to curl up in. I love attention and love when you are giving it, but for the most part dont mind finding my way around and doing my own thing. Unless of course you are going to be giving that attention to another dog, then I will get sassy. Speaking of other dogs, they are not my fav. O.K., if they are quiet too, and dont get all up in my business, I GUESS I will be kosher with them. But I get annoyed by the noisy and energetic ones, and will surely start a spat if they keep messing with me. Although Im pretty low key, I do need a little cleaning of course. One of my eyes is goopy when I wake up, so I need someone to give me eye drops everyday and keep it nice and clean for me so I can see. My ears also need a lot of attention to get them back up right. Maybe thats why I dont hear so well? I have some medication that I need, but I also need someone to get in there with a Q-tip and clean them real good. But dont you worry I dont put a fight at all when you poke and pry at me. I am very patient and very calm. I also do great in the bath too! I may be 8 and a half, but dont you take me for an old little geezer. I have plenty of energy when its time to play, and I take the 3 flights up the stairs to my Foster Parents apartment like a champ! If you would like to know more about me, or if you would like to adopt me (wink, wink) then could you message us as soon as you get the chance? That would be great! I hope'd you liked reading about me:)

Ozzie

Ozzie

Hiya! My name is Ozzie, and I'm an Olde English Bulldog. Don't let that fool you - I'm not "old" at all! I just had my 1st birthday in August. My foster family calls me all kinds of funny names: Oswald, Wizard of Oz, Dr. Oz... I love them all, and I come running wagging my tail the whole way! Oh yeah, I have a tail - did you know?!? It's actually straight, well sort of, and I can wag it! How cool is that for a bully! And since we're talking about my looks, have you seen my gorgeous eyes? Quite stunning, don't you think? I'm not just a pretty face, you know. I'm very smart too. I know several commands, and I'm house broken and crate trained. I'm very good on a leash, and I love to go for walks. I get along well with my foster brother, a very large dog named Odin, and also my human foster sister. There are cats in my foster home too. They are interesting, but I know they are not to play with - just to look at my foster mommy says. If you would like to adopt me, or you need more info on me, pleaseee message us. Oh, and I love comments :)

THE ULTIMATE BULLY SURVIVOR I am sure you have heard of the show Survivor? Well, if there were a show called Survivor Bulldogs I would qualify. I am a 5 year old female named Bertha and I have been through a lot, but am still standing and in the best shape of my life. I cant remember a lot about the first part of my life, but lets just say it could have been better. When I arrived at CEBR I was clearly in need of both physical and emotional attention. Now I am spayed and my facial folds and eyes are finally getting some attention. Actually Im pretty perky these days post-surgery and taking daily walks which I enjoy immensely. A girl has to keep a trim figure you know. But most of all, the attention I am getting has brought me out of my shell. I love just being in the same room with my caretakers and of course the more they want to shower me with attention the more I love it. Ok, call me the love sponge. (Now I know what I missed during the first years of my life when I was more or less a vagabond and being shuttled through several different homes.) I love to spend my evenings snoozing in the family room while they read or watch TV. Then I go into my crate at night. I like it in there. Its cozy. My caretakers keep asking me about my vocal cords. I am not sure what they mean, but they say I never bark. Guess I am just super quiet. Since leaving my past behind I have really enjoyed being in a quiet home with other bullies. No kids around here but I think I would enjoy being with older children the more attention the better! I am housebroken, but I have a small confession. I used to be left alone for long periods of time and just generally ignored. So in frustration I would make a pee in the house. This was more to get attention and blow off some steam than anything else. If you let me out frequently enough, I get the picture!! And if you are not sure and are going to be away from the house for several hours, I dont mind going in my crate. I can always take a beauty nap. Snoring is included! I have no allergies or special food needs, so thats a relief. I do look sort of longingly at you while you are having your dinner, but I do not beg. But lets face it I need lots of daily attention in terms of getting my eye meds and having my facial folds thoroughly wiped. Pretty much basic bulldog maintenance. I know my name and *mostly* come when I am called. I can sit and stay (sometimes). But if you treat me consistently, I pick up on things pretty fast (like the fact that Im not allowed into the dining room! Got it. Check!) I would love someone who would take the time to teach me some more commands because I aim to please. And by the way, I am microchipped so you will never ever lose me. Lastly, I dont seem to shed very much and with my white fur, thats a real plus!! When you see me, you will notice from my figure that I have had several litters of puppies in the past and frankly, am glad my pup-bearing years are at an end. I just want to be in a stable home with lots of love, attention, care, and, oh yeah, some really great dog treats, maybe a bone and some chew toys
