Bergen is almost three months old. Elkhounds were originally bred to hunt moose (elk) in Norway. They would find the moose and keep them stationary by barking at them until the hunter came. Bergen still has her hunting genes, as you can see from her deer antlers that she found and carries with her often. She is very curious and is growing bigger every day. She loves to do things to make us happy, but she definitely has a mind of her own, especially when she sees a deer to chase. She is very helpful with the dishes -- but she only likes the dirty ones!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;HES SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRECIOS I ADDED HIM AS A FAVERTE
Hey Mum, I caught my first elk!! Not come accross this breed before - looks like he may grow into a very big boy! Beautiful.
Oooooooooops, Sorry Bergen, thought you were a boy! I must read more carefully. Apologies and loads of bikkies.
Bergen is an adorable girl! I grew up with a Norwegian Elkhound when I was a wee one and my family now has another one who is around 11 years old... so sweet and lovable and shed buckets so get her used to the doggie brush! Loads of bikkies for your baby. To Ray - having been an owner of Norwegian Elkhounds - females get to about 50 lbs and males around 60 or so... so while not small, not overly huge either - just the right size in my opinion :)
WARNING! Diabetics should not look at these pictures! Sweetness overdose!"Bergen" From the German word for mountains? she will give you mountains of love! ( and shed mountains )very loyal/adventurous breed!
Beautiful! I just finished reading a novel about Vikings and Elkhounds were mentioned! Perfect timing! she's a lovely pup, like a ball of fur. Enjoy her!
What an athletic looking pup! Bergen is pretty much perfect. We knew an adult Elkhound and the owner said he's never have another breed after having one. Very smart and loving.
What a sweetie she is, I love this pic playing with her toys. Glad to hear you have a live-in dishwasher, they're not easy to get. Have a ton of fun with her.
MY ANTLERS! Oh Bergin you are gorgeous. I had never heard of this breed before - that's one of the many things I love about this site. Tons of cookies and hugs sweetie! xoxoxo
A sucessful first elk hunt - she really does want to please you. She is beautiful, looks intelligent, and I would cuddle her up for hours on end. Enjoy!
When I was a child our neighbors raised Norwegian Elkhounds and they used to let me help in the kennels and take care of their dogs while they were away, etc. Their Elkhounds were some of the most playful, intelligent and affectionate dogs I have ever encountered. I fell in love with the breed because of them, and Bergen looks to be true to their nature. She's adorable, and she looks every bit as playful and smart as I remember them being. May you have many, many happy years together.
SHUT UP!! SHE IS TOOOOOO CUTE! A FUZZY, FLUFF BALL! OH MY GOSH, I LOVE HER. TONS OF BISCUITS FOR HER :)
Wow Bergen you are such an adorable little lady!!! Such a bright and happy face and extremely photogenic! Wishing you all the health and happiness in the world as well as a kazillion hugs, kisses, tummy rubs and doggie bikkies sweety!!! Lotsa love from Ange, Max and Chloe. xoxoxo
I am the proud mom to Bruno (a 12yo Elkie who came to "visit" as a 3 day foster 11 years ago). Bergen will give you years and years and years of affection, love, loyalty and laughs (and enough dog hair every day to create a new dog). Having an Elkie guarantees you will never have a bad day for long. Woof! Woof! 4 paws up ... Elkies are the most wonderful dogs. Bergen you are a cutie!!!!!
Bergen you are too precious! One day you will get that deer! keep trying! wishing you many happy years together!
What a beautiful baby and wonderful curiosity!!! Sounds like an amazing breed and reminds me of my Golden that likes to bring home birds she finds! 11 Biscuits for Bergen!
Wow... Bergen is wonderful. Look at those ears! So cute. Biscuits and bellyrubs from Pam in Toronto.
Such an inquisitive pup. Hard to pick a favorite pose, but the one ear up, one ear down does it for me every time! LOL. Beautiful. Wishing you many happy years together. And tons of biscuits!
I use to work in a pet store selling puppies and sold many of these. they are very cool dogs. cute puppy

He sooooooo cute and very photogenic. I loved all of his pics and found it difficult to pick just one. Lots of hugs, belly rubs, and biscuits. Thanks for sharing.
Even at rest Bergen has an intensity in her eyes that says "I love life." She is a real beauty and I'm glad you are making her happy and vice-versa!
Everything about your precious Bergen is adorable! May you have many happy years to love each other.
Oh, look what I found! I am not sure what it is, but I feel a need to investigate. I am sure it is something way beyond my imagination and really fun. Hugs & tickles from E & Dane Miss Katie =O)
She is one pretty dog! You have great photos, and it was difficult to select just one, but I think I like this playful shot. I love it when they play with their paws! Here wishing you many years of blessed health and lovins for you and yours.
What a beautiful baby. Lots and lots of cookies, and belly rubs and tail wagging fun. May you have a very long and happy life little one.
Aww, what a beautiful baby! She reminds me of a little wolf. I love her colors, I've never heard of this breed before, but it's def going to the top of my list of dogs I would like to have.
Great photos!!! Bergen's a real cutie pie and it was hard to chose a favorite. I wonder if his coat is coarse like that of a keeshound? They look similar.
Oh gosh! Which photo to choose? They're all so wonderful. They really capture Bergen's personality. She is just adorable.
Oh MY! What a beautiful pup!!! I want her! Seriously, BIG bear hugs for this little beauty! Nose kisses from Wolf, and a billion Biscuits!!!
Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!! But then again I am biased - we have 2 Elkhounds!! Makes me want to get a third!!! Fabulous breed, loving, loyal and dependable!! Great with my kids too. Bergen, you are a beauty! x
Bergen, you are such an adorable puppy. All the pictures are so cute it is hard to pick one but I love your little puppy tongue sticking out. We wish you a happy, healthy long life with your family. A billion biscuits for you.
Bergen, I am needing a running mate...how bout it? The E.T./Bergen ticket will get these 'United Pounds of America' back on track!!! You with me buddie?
What an adorable little puppy! Wishing this sweetie a long, happy, healthy life filled with love and fun. A million biscuits, tummy rubs and kisses for this little angel! XOXOXO
Bergen has got to be one of the CUTEST pups I have ever seen!!! Hugs, belly rubs, scratches and kisses to the precious doll! phaedra and pack
OMG Bergen you are SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!! You remind me so much of my cousin Betsy! She lives in Canada and she is so funny one time we had a water drinking contest and she threw up and that made me throw up and then we both laughed and she has brown hair and brown eyes just like you and she can run really fast just like you and she likes to hunt too and she is cute and I love her and you guys are so similar. I would like to give you one hundred cookies and that is so weird because Betsey calls them biscuits just like you!
Bergen is too cute for words. I hope you have many happy and healthy years together! Much love and many bicuits to you Bregen! I could just love you to pieces!
Congratulations on your new puppy.. she is a little doll. I have an elkhound named Inga and she is the love of my life. She is getting up there in years, almost 12, but she still fills my life with joy and adventure. Just be warned that you are in for a life of hardheadedness (elkhounds can be very stubborn) and tumbleweeds of doghair... but the love you will receive in return makes it all worthwhile.
Bergen is beautiful! Lots of great pictures of her, but I love this one because of that "...can't...quite... reach... it...enh" pose. Many happy years!
What a cute little puppy Bergen is! I haven't ever heard of this breed before. Lots of kisses and belly rubs!
Bergen is adorable. She looks like she is trying to catch up with the elk in this picture. Beautiful coloring. Take care of her and she will take care of you, make you happy and laugh for many years to come. Long life Bergen!
Bergen, you are a beautiful pup. You look so soft, and warm, and squishable! I'll bet you will be a beautiful silvery color when you grow up. I'm glad you found part of your first deer, and even more glad he wasn't still attached. He would have been too big for you. It's best to practice on the small stuff, like your moose, and leaves. Puppy cookies and tummy rubs headed your way from Cheyenne and me.
What an adorable puppy! It's so nice to see such a different dog breed. 11 + biscuits for you. I hope you have many happy years with Bergen. Love, Nicole
Bergen is absolutely adorable!!!! All of the photos are great! I'll be watching for Bergen's appearance as the grown up puppy of the day! Cutest thing EVER!
Bergen is so adorable and I love this "curious puppy" pic. She looks so soft and huggable. May you have many happy years with her. Give her lots of hugs, kisses, belly rubs and bones from me.
She's so adorable, especially with that cute plush toy! Well, "Bergen" certainly is a highly appropriate name for her breed, yes?
What a cutie! I've never seen a puppy of this breed before. Big kisses!
