We got Cassie from a kennel for my birthday when she was 12 weeks old. She's got the nicest temperament, all sweet and cuddly. She eats pretty much anything but isn't a big fan of dog food. We tried to make her sleep in the dog bed but now she sleeps with me. She prefers people and horses to dogs for some reason and is very humanized. We hope to train her to be a therapy pet in the future.
I have two cavvies and they are just wonderful! It's terrific idea to get Cassie trained as a therapy dog, I'm in grad school doing psychology and my cavs are better therapists than I am!!
She is SO alert! Therapy dogs are more effective than psychologists because if you try to scratch a psychologist behind the ear, they rebel and they do not heel worth a darn. All kidding aside, when a pup of mine died, it was his older sister who took care of me, grieved with me, did not let me nap too long and let me know when it was time to go on by dropping a ball in my lap. Therapy dogs are the unsung heroes.
Looks like Cassie is on a mission with full concentration! She is adorable, many happy times with this sweetheart!
Cassie is an adorable little gal. My Boston Terrier sleeps in my bed with me - we wouldn't have it any other way!

We had a Cocker-Spaniel named Cassie for 12 wonderful years, so I can't help but fall in love with your Cassie, too. She looks very dear and will surely make an outstanding therapy dog. lotsa biscuits !!!
What a special girl. The dogs I have known of this breed have always had the dearest temperments. Careful not to overfeed....keep her healthy, safe and fit and you will have a lovely companion for years to come. Congrats!
So sweet. I love her shorter hair cut. Most Cavalier King Charles dogs have longer hair but this is a very cute puppy look! :) So nice to hear your rescued her! I think it is alright that she prefers humans over dogs.....whatever makes her happy!
She is adorable. Try the dog food that is only the lamb and rice kibbles. That is so much better on their stomachs and won't give them gas. If she won't try it, cook and egg, (scrambled), and place on top, they love eggs!
Did you get her in TX. I got mine from a breeder in TX and she looks just like mine. What a sweetheart. Enjoy her!! Another great food to try (expensive but worth it) is called Force. It is an awesome product and she will thrive on it. It is from a company called the Honest Kitchen.

Little Cassie is a mirror image of our Charlie when she was that age. If you get half as much love and pleasure from Cassie as we have from Charlie you'll be blessed indeed. (Is there no way of reporting abuse on this site? JKL is well out of order with such remarks.)

"I've got places to go and people to see!" How cute and adorable Cassie is, but you really should make her eat dog food as it is properly balanced for their special nutritional needs which people food doesn't supply them with. We have an almost 11 year old Sheltie "princess" and her 3 year old brother, and like Cassie our Sophie has no idea that she is a dog and prefers people. She only tolerates her brother Bobby who I'm sure she thinks is a royal pest! Enjoy Cassie and I'm sure she will supply much happiness to her new family.
Your baby is adorable, and I want to put in a good word for therapy dogs. My Ozzie, bless him, was an abused rescue dog that I nursed back to health, then took through the therapy training. We visited the elderly at a nursing home, and they loved him. One lady who had become totally withdrawn actually responded to Ozzie--she looked up at me and said wonderingly, "He LIKES me!" I still cry when I think of that. You will have your reward if you go to the trouble to do this thing. Good luck!

Love her snubby little nose! My dream is to one day have a therapy dog because dogs seem to bring out the best in us, and I agree, they can heal more than words many times over! At the moment I don't have the time to invest being a single mom (to a 2-legged 6-yr old), but reading sbuent's post just confirms what I've always believed, that dogs reach us on some special wavelength that I can't explain. Very alert look. Cute as a cuddley, soft blanket. Don't imagine she sits too long in one place yet being a busy puppy. And she should have people food once in awhile but get her used to some nurishing dry dog food on a regular basis. Better for her health and living longer. Give bisquits for doggies. She's a good girl and you want to have her a long time.

This position reminds me of my shih tzu. I cannot sleep without him in my bed, even with the snoring. May I suggest you try a fish-based dog food. Wellness makes a couple of types and my shih tzu would rather have that than any kind of meat. I also agree with puppyfixation who suggested eggs. We got started years ago with a tradition of giving each dog a plate of scrambled eggs every Sunday morning. Ordinarily they sleep while I make breakfast as they know I don't feed from the table. They know when it is Sunday, however, and sit on the dining room carpet just outside the kitchen with wagging tails and smiles on their faces. Much happiness to you both.
She's right at home sleeping with you. Love her markings. They were bred to be lap dogs b/c of their sweet nature and low energy requirements. (And as an added benefit back then the Cavs attracted the fleas from the humans!) A good friend has had several and has found they live up to their wonderful reputations. Congratulations.
