Gijsje the Longhaired Daschund
We've adopted Gijsje from a shelter when he was about 4 months old. The little puppy was a bit shy but very friendly and we fell in love with him right away. So far he's been the most wonderful puppy one could wish for. He's sweet, playful and intelligent. His favorite thing in the whole world would be food and he will do anything for it. He also has a best pall, a kitten named Gucci who's about his age, they can play for hours, chasing each other or just wrestling over a toy. They are an odd but cute couple. Gijsje also loves to go for walks in the forest with us, his big sister, a great dane, and his other sister a lasaopsa. And like most dogs he loves to plunge into any pile of mud he can find. He's incredibly lovable and will lick your whole face when given a chance. We love him so much and I wouldn’t know what to do without him anymore
This baby is to cute. I definitely love this picture of him. He looks as though he is saying, "Go Ahead and try to get this toy from me, I dare you!" Many happy years with your new baby. Tons of hugs and kisses.

sooo photogenic at such a young age :D hard to imagine that these lil ones were once working dogs, Dachs = Badger, flushing them out of their burrows was their livelyhood once upon a time, not so with young Gijsje. ton of biscuits for him!

Awww...this picture is so sweet! When I leave for law school, if I can take my Shiloh (collie/husky or shepherd mix) with me, I'm going to get my mom a little long-haired doxie like she used to have. He looked just like this little guy!

Oh my so so cute. I had the same colour and breed when I was a little girl We called him casper. He is going to give you a lot of love.

Thanks for all the kind comments about Gijsje, he seemed really happy about it since he started licking my screen ^^ I gotta say getting this guy into our lives was one of the best things that could happen and being a shelter puppy he gives even double the love back for saving him. Lots of licks and hugs from Gijsje and some hugs from me Amanda aswell ;)
Gijsje is way cute! I love it when pups lay in positions that look like they couldn't possibly be comfortable. Amanda, how do you pronounce his name???

Gijsje is a dutch name (abbreviation of Gijs) I will use some english words to discribe the sounds. We have a completly different G. But it comes close to Geii - sjuh (sjuh like duh)

Haha thanks for trying to explain how it sounds it's really hard for english people to say, my english friend just calls him Gigi for that reason ^^ Yet again thanks for teh nice words and I gave him a load of kisses for you guys just now and a big belly rub. Hugs

Oh, he is precious! Doxies are the best! Soooo loving! I'm sure he gives the best kisses, and why are they always in love with cats? My cat loves my doxle (dachshund/beagle), but hates every other dog! I love you Gijsje!
