Jacques's mom says: We were planning on adopting a dog from a shelter until we met Jacques. There was a "puppies for sale" sign at the side of the highway, and when we pulled up to the house he came tumbling out from under a pick-up truck. Jacques has a wrinkly face and when he runs his cheeks flap up and down. He's not much of a fetcher, but he loves to chew on everything he can -- rawhides, corn on the cob, sticks, my clothes. He leaves drool stains all over the couch but we don't mind. He's the best. Close

He's wonderful, I really love sharpei's. Just lost my girl of 14 years summer before last...Am still missing her daily. The lab is a good cross for a sharpei.

GOOD HEAVENS!!! Until today, I had never considered what might aesthetically improve a labrador. You answered my question before I even thought about asking it. Have you seen the abundance of lips on this dog? I mean, it's approaching maximum lip capacity. I don't know how you were able to hike while in the presence of such an adorable doggie. I would have tipped over and fallen off the mountain from sheer cuteness. I am overwhelmed with the urge to squish this doggies face gently between my hands as I plant copious kisses on the nose area. I am imagining my hands filled with soft puppy face and enormous lips. *dies*

Let me reasure you Jackie, there was other rocks behind. That hike was great thought, at just 7 weeks, he walked 2 1/2 hours up that mountain and only took the backpack ride for an hour. But at just 11 weeks, we went at it again and he did it all by himself.

Wow! What a brilliant cross-breed! He's beautiful. Still essentially Labrador to look out, but the Shar-pei lips are the giveaway.
I especially love the photo of Jacques sitting atop the mountain looking into the sky - the clouds behind him, the rock he is sitting on...he looks like he's the king of the world in that photograph. Very artistic!
Adorable dog! Be careful though, many dogs swallow cobs of corn whole, and it shuts down their digestive systems. Better stick to rawhides.

Relax everyone... it wasn't a cliff. It just looks like it from the angle we took the picture. Obviously I wouldn't put my little pup at the edge of a cliff! We live in the mountains though, so he's a pretty good climber.

Growing up my family had a Shar Pei/Lab mix- his name was Hoover, and we called him the Schlab. He was the greatest dog I've ever met... Jaques looks just like him, and I can only hope that he brings as much joy into your lives as Hoover did into ours!

I, too, have a lab/shar pei mix. Her name is Dinky and she's a chocolate lab. She is about 9 years old now and she is very much a part of our family. I got her from a shelter and have fallen in love with lab/shar pei mixes now. Jacques is absolutely adorable.

I have a dog who is sharpei X labrador we rescued him when he was 2.5yrs old and we really enjoyed seeing your puppy photos was we have none of our own. Our dog Hunter has much smaller ears and a upturned tail he also has a blue tongue he is very loving and we would not be without him anyway thanks for the puppy photos
Very cute puppy! I resently found a stray dog and we couldn't figure out what she was, we thought a lab and something else. We took her to the vet and they thought Shar-pei and lab, but we were like she doesn't have a really wrinkley face. Now I believe them cause she looks exactly like the last picture of jacque same color and everything. So now I know what she looked like when she was a puppy.
Aww he is so adorable. I also had a LAB/SHAR PEI mix. he was brindle. I loved his wrinkles when he was a puppy. They do get real big, but what I loved most was even though he was aging he always looked like a young pup, he also acted like that too.
Hi! I am a Grandmother, and still have three teens at home. We recently got a puppy that is, so we are told, part Lab, Sharpei, and part Beagle. He is adorable! I was just looking to see if I could find pics of what he may look like when he gets bigger. And your puppy is so cute! Looks a bit like ours. I too am a lab/sharpei (sharp-lab) owner and lover. A sweeter breed combo I've never found. Mom was a small black lab, and Dad was the neighborhood casinova, a black sharpei. My Vet said he was the most purebred looking mixed breed he'd ever seen. Pugsley is 5 and only about 60 lbs. The only words of caution that I have for you are chew toys, chew toys, chew toys, and with the extra skin if something startles them they can wiggle out of a regular collar really easily. Have fun he'll be a sweet heart. Looking at Jacques was like looking at a blond Pugsley when he was his age. Great memories. More to come.
Like many people have said you have got a cute mix:) my husband and I have a shar pei german shepherd mix. We know all about the drool stains. Heck when people want to say Hi to our dog duke they ask can we pet him? Does he bite? I always say He has not yet and I am more about warning people about how messy it can be to say hi to him:) I used to give my husband trouble for buying paper towels all the years before we got duke now I see god was just getting us ready for when duke came into our lives:) Not sure about the rest of ya but after Duke drinks people think he has peed on the floor Nah thats just drool from drinking water:) Or right after duke eats I have to wip all around his lips and mouth even though I know the whole time duke is thinking or acting like oh gosh dad leave me alone. Well I could write a book about duke as I am sure it is for the rest of us Shar pei mix owners. If anybody would like to hear more or share look up my myspace page.
WONDERFUL! I also share my life with a lab/shar pei named Rhudi. I got him at the age of 2 years so I have always felt a little deprived of not knowing what he looked like when he was a puppy and therefore enjoy seeing other peoples puppy pics. I've had a few dogs over the years both pure and mixed breed and this particular combo had proven to be a most happy occurance.

We also have a Lab/Shar Pei Mix named Shadow. Although he took on more of the Lab features, he still has the Shar Pei traits. He's about 2 years old now, and a great boy. You've got youself a good friend with Jaques.
I adopted a sweet little boy named Chester from a shelter about 6 months ago and the papers said he was a lab/shar pei mix. I wasn't sure until I saw the pics of Jaques! The only difference is Chester is chocolate!
Our black lab pup, Sassy (Sassysquatch), had seven pups on Halloween day (5 male, 2 female). The papa is Buddy, our full blooded Shar-pei. They all look exactly like Jacques except for darker colors and their eyes are not yet open. One male is exactly the same color as Buddy so of course he is now Buddy Jr. Lots of work and loads of fun.

I am looking at a light version of my dog, Dr. Watson. Watson was my shadow for ten wonderful years. He passed way 3 weeks ago. I don't think I will out live my grief. He had the most wonderful disposition. Ever where I went people loved him. Thanks for posting such a wonderful memory.

There is some thing about this breed that can not be matched.
We sure do love the lab shar-pei mix - such a great disposition, easy to train and oh-so-loveable. Our daughter wanted a puppy for Christmas and we happened upon a breeder for this mix, although we didn't even know they existed! She fell in love with one of the puppies and that was her Christmas gift. It was also ours because, when she got married and moved out, we got one of our own. You never know what you'll get - her dog is about 40 lbs. and ours is almost 90! Both dogs were so easy to potty-train - had each of them trained in about 2 weeks from the time we got them. Jacques looks so much like our Jake. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I have a lab/sharpei mix as does my sister. We call them shlabs. They are great dogs and the best companions! They tend to get a little independent at times, though, and can become aggressive (the chinese Shar Pei part of them). They are adorable though!
