What a great little dog!

Mar 11, 2007 TheTerrierist

Ah, perfect! From one Terrierist to another, "Woof!"

Mar 11, 2007 doxietail

Maddie is adorable!! You are so lucky that you can bring her everywhere with you -- I wish that I could do the same with my dog!

(I just have a quick question: Is the parson russel terrier the same breed as the jack russel terrier? I have been wondering about this for a while, and different sources seem to say different things. This beautiful puppy here does look a lot like a jack russel terrier, but, I don't know...there seems to be something different...)

Again, Maddie is sooo cute! And, more importantly, she sounds like she has a great personality! :)

simply adorable

The Jack Russell Terrier is the original working breed from English bloodlines. The "Parson Russell Terrier" is an affectation of the AKC to denote a dog of the JRT breed who doesn't work but who is a show dog. I have two JRTs and I am very proud of them. Why doesn't beautiful Maddie have 15 biscuits yet?? She is a gorgeous girl --- though to be frank, the length and set of her ears make me wonder if there isn't a little something else mixed in. True JRT ears are set high on the head and the fold-over is quite short with no feathering at the tips. Nevertheless, she is a darling girl and I am sure her people adore her!

i wish we could take our puppies everywhere! there are a couple of cafes here that let you sit at the tables outside with dogs, they have water bowls too... i think its fantastic but we are yet to take our babies out on the town as they haven't had all their vaccinations yet.

She is adorable, love the picture when she is sleeping with her little crossed legs. I am sure is a character. She seems to be enjoying Paris to the fullest like any great dog should.

Mar 11, 2007 allpupsRperfect

LOVE that 5th pic! She is adorable; it's easy to see why you love her so!

Mar 11, 2007 snuggles19973

What a cutie.....we usually takes our pup every where we go the only places he is not allowed is any place that has food. I love the 5th pic also. She looks as though she is a professional model hahahaha Enjoy her as they grow up way to fast. Huggs and Kisses for that little nose.

Bonjour Maddie, Ca va? Nous sommes tres bien. We are Emma and Henry, two bichon frises sister and brother. Our mom and dad spend half the year in Paris and haven't seen you on the street yet. They know all of the Parisian dogs. They know some cool restaurants where the well-heeled Parisian dogs go. They will keep a lookout for you, ok? Our mom will give you lots of kisses like she does for all of the dogs in Paris. A bientot, mon amie!!

Mar 11, 2007 yujismom

jolie fille-oo la la!

Mar 11, 2007 TheTerrierist

The difference between a "Jack" Russell and a "Parson" Russell is pretty easy: it's the length of the legs. The distinction arose because of a disagreement over the breed standard for Jack Russells, so the Parson Russell was broken out as the "long-legged" version and the Jack Russell is the shorter-legged version (although in some instances, the total difference is an inch!) Both are considered working dogs, as opposed to the Smooth Fox Terrier, the show cousin of the Jack/Parson Russell. In behavior, the two types of Russells are virtually identical; only time will tell whether or not that changes as pups are bred for height standards going forward. A lot of people still universally call these dogs "Jack Russells" and they aren't really incorrect, since the whole breed harkens back to the Reverand John "Jack" Russell, an Englishman who bred working terriers. You'll mostly hear the distinction only at AKC events like Westminster, where the Parson Russell is the dog that is shown as representative of the breed.

Mar 11, 2007 Aviatrix23

OMG!!! The pic with the Birkentocks is KILLING me!!
I have one with my Dusty's face in my BF's Birkenstocks that I took just last year.

Mar 11, 2007 TheTerrierist

Here's the official distinction between Jacks and Parsons:

"The name of the Jack Russell Terrier was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier effective April 1, 2003 as requested by the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America, which was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier Association of America. FCI, ANKC, IKC, recognize the shorts as Jack Russell Terriers and the UKC recognized the shorts as Russell Terriers. The Parsons are the long legged Jack Russell Terriers named officially Parsons Russell Terriers. The Jack Russell Terrier and the Russell Terrier are the same breed but are entirely a separate breed from the Parsons Russell Terrier. "

http://www.dogbreedi nfo.com...

So, they're saying they're separate breeds . . . however you slice it, it adds up to "lots of engergy and personality!"

Bon Jour, Maddie!
I totally dig that this "American in Paris" is a "Connecticut Yankee"! I hope she advances the cause of Franco-American friendship.
Vive le Cheins!

Mar 12, 2007 carollevy

Little Maddie has that "Je ne c'est qua" that only the most special little terrier has... sweet looks, a face that says "who, ME?" when you find her nibble marks on your birkenstocks, the courage of a dog ten times her weight, and the soul of a troublemaker that makes you love her all the more. Sigh. What's not to love? I wish we could bring my silly little Teena the Cairn over there to play with her. I know they would get along thick as thieves. Enchente'!!

Mar 12, 2007 Loizhanne

in addition to being a stunning little puppy, maddie obviously has better manners than my hound. if i ever took her into a restaurant, i'd never, ever get her out! either that or they would throw her into the street after me.

Mar 12, 2007 roxy101

Very CUTE!!!

Mar 12, 2007 Ophelia82004

how cute!

Mar 13, 2007 oliviab25313

We are on our 3rd JRT (one puddy and one Parson), and swore before our first that we would never have another terrier. After our first, Pete, we cannot imagine life w/o JRTs. Maddie is such a sweetie. Love the pic of the shoes and her! She looks like such a lady, but we Jack owners know better! lol

Awww What a sweet puppy. My JRT mix, Karma, fell in love with the first picture. She tried to lick the computer screen. JRT's are so cute and are little bundles of energy. You can't help but love them.

Hi Maddie, my honey brought me to france about 10 years ago and not only were the french people, like your mommy absolutely wonderful, but the dogs were so "CLASSY". I especially love the picture of you on your side with your little foot hooked over your knee! You are definitely a little Parisian Pup...I can remember the word for cat, but not the word for dog....oh shame on me! Thank your Mommy for your wonderful pictures and for the great trip down my own memories of France lane.
Jackie and her little dog named BELLE

Mar 14, 2007 Annie03

I have two JRT girls and I love them dearly, as I know you do Maddie. I would love to live in France with my girls. They are so spoiled, but of course.
The pics are great. I oldest is 5 yrs old, I recued her and my Annie is 3 and I had her since she was 6 wks old. Love them.

Mar 17, 2007 sewgranny54

"Maddie" is just adorable! My son and I have a shorthaired Jack Russell Terrier, male, 6 years old. He chewed everything in sight for the first year. I can't say I appreciated him too much at that time. After his first birthday he became the most awsome dog! He loves squeeky toys and to go for walks in the park, just like your girl. He sleeps under the blanket in my bed every night. I am sure your beautiful "Maddie" will bring as much joy to you as our "Merlin" does to us. Please update us as she grows.
