Reuben's mom says: Reuben Valentine was born December 21, 2006, on a farm in Missouri and came to my St. Louis, USA, home on February 3, 2007. The breeder gave him the name Valentine, and I kept that as his middle name since he came home shortly before Valentine's Day. He was six weeks old and weighed ten pounds; he is four months old now and weighs 55 pounds! He is a splashcoat, which means that he has more white on his coat than most other Saints. He has lots of freckles on his belly. He is extremely bright -- he learned how to sit by seven weeks of age, to walk on a leash by eight weeks, and was housebroken by ten weeks. He loves to play with sticks (branches). His only bad habit is digging. Of course we are still working on some of the finer points of training, but he is absolutely adorable, beautiful, and a joy to have. He truly is a Saint!
He is sooooo adorable. What a brave soul to keep him inside!! If you think 55 pounds is big you just wait!!!ooooooooooo He has that sad look that makes me want to hug him and squeeze him!!!
Reuben is gorgeous! Talk about some serious eye make-up!! You should get the books by the Monks of New Skete. They will show you how to teach Reuben not to dig. I have a Golden Retriever who is half the size Reuben will eventually be, and my bad boy has dug holes in the back yard I could bury volkswagons in. Dig or not, he certainly is a keeper. Enjoy his beautiful life and spirit. Love to you both.
To me, St Bernards are probably one of the best breeds of dogs. They're so big, but they're also so gentle Making them great with little kids. I remember when I had mine, all the children in my neighborhood would want to play with her. You've certainly got a "keeper". They may have some quirks, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

In the 70's I lived on a small farm we raised St. Bernards. We had 11 females and 2 males, I miss them. These are beautiful and wonderful dogs, they are so big and cuddly and will love you to no end. Please enjoy him I wish I could. He is just too adorable.

Aw, I love Saint Bernards! They are so big and fluffy, I saw one at a dog show that was 180 pounds a few months ago! Reuben is very sweet looking, sounds like a great puppy.
i've had many dogs in 48 years, including a St. Bernard and there are none better. What a beautiful beautiful boy. You are so blessed and he will bring you such immense joy. I've never had a dog that made me laugh so much! They're the best! He's gorgeous...and the previous comments are so true, he has such human eyes....SO beautiful.

Reuben is everything his mom said he is. I should know, it is my yard he uses for digging practice. I am his proud grandmother.
We have a 9 1/2 month old Goldendoodle named Albert. He also lives in Saint Louis and loves to run and play in Queeny Park. Have fun with Reuben. He is such a cutie!

In the 5th picture he looks as if he has penciled-in eyebrows, giving him such a human look - I was a little taken aback! A delicious puppy, and Saints are just saints. Good luck with him!

I love you, Ruben!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Saint myself, named Neelix, and only one word can describe this kind of dog... Wonderful!!! Neelix is a good mix of intelligent and hard headed. Since we have 2 Great Pyrenees, he wanted to be like them and potty training was completed in almost no time flat. His favorite spot in the house (aside from the kitchen) is the bathroom floor. He'll hang out there and sleep all day. Now, Neelix is 4 years old this month, and hands down our largest dog. I'm thinking 125 lb minimum. He thinks he's a lap puppy (Daddy loves this about him, so it is one bad habit he has), and he also loves to snuggle with us in bed at night and keep Momma's feet warm. Everyone who meets him just falls in love with him. I couldn't ask for a greater dog. And, Ruben, I know you will fill your parents with as much joy as Neelix has filled us with. Seeing you on here today just made my day!

GORGEOUS!!! I have a Saint for a neighbor, his name is Freckles! He has the most beautiful tail, like a plume!! My aunt used to raise and breed Saints. I was just a kid, but I remember breeding stories from hell!!! God bless you and your Saint for years to come, he truly is Magnificent!!

Wow....what big boy! My shih tzu is a year old and weighs 8 pounds! You could probably eat her for an appetizer! Yikes! I am in love!! My daughter has a St. Bernard mix but he looks alot like Reuben. I am looking for a breeder and would love to know where Reuben came from.
