Sophie Jean's sister says: Sophie Jean is my parents' rat terrier. She's a great deal of fun. A wee bit of a "terrierist" at nine weeks old, she loves to play fetch with my father every morning. They live in Tucson, Arizona, where Sophie continues to bring my parents happiness, love, and companionship.
Such a beautiful girl !! I would love to own a rattie.
Is Sophie a standard, mini, or toy? Hard to tell when their young..but she is sooo cute !!!
my maddie was a terrierist too she is grown up now and very calm. isnt it lovely when they fall asleep? despite all the joy and smiles they bring you a little nap now and then is highly appreciated.
i've had three ratties and they have all been terrierists at times. i only have one now and she is about 9 and is a terrier with a capital T. i adore ratties and you will too. enjoy her. ratties are wonderful babies.
I never knew Rat Terriers were so adorable. I want one. It kind of looks like a Jack Russel. Does she pretty much always have the one ear up and the other down?...it's cute either way.
shes so adorable i have a eight week old jack russel terrier called rosie and she looks just like sophie
What a precious little girl!! I have a rattie, "Cacee May". We got her at 8 months and she turned 2 in May. I have a picture of her at 4 months and her ears did the same thing, one up and one down. Now they both stand straight up at attention! She is the joy of our lives. Sophie Jean will entertain you to no end and love you just as much. Our Cacee is smart, energetic, affectionate, stubborn, inquisitive and loves playing with her toys! Wishing you many happy years together!!
HANG ON!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Got squirrels? Mice? tennis balls?
The little beauty will wear you out :)
Can we say play? She WILL keep you happy :):):)
Bunches of cookies :)
Sophie Jean - what a total sweetie you are!!
We have 4 like her in our family but we call them Mini-fox terriers or Tenterfield terriers here in Australia. They are one of our most popular and admired dogs because of their affectionate nature and personality. Totally ball obsessed and always entertaining. ADORABLE - just like you darling Sophie Jean! Love you to bits!
Who knew something with "rat" in its name could be so precious and beautiful. Give her lots of belly rubs for me.
This is one adorable little terrier gal! She is just perfect. Lovely, lovely little dog. Your parents will enjoy her! Snuggles, kisses and snacks for SJ.
Awww!!!!!!! What a cutie!!!!!! :) I wish your parents much fun and patience with their 'baby.' hehe :D
Ohhhhh my what a cutie. I love her, she is sooooo darling and yes she looks like a ball of energy. You r so lucky to have such a cutie pie.
The EARS!! OMIGOD, I love puppies with one ear always up like they're constantly fascinated with whatever they're looking at. What sweet, kill-me-with-cuteness eyes, too! So pretty!
11 biscuits!
Sophie Jean, how can you look so adorably cute and full of mischief at the same time? Have a long, happy, healthy life baby girl. Hugs and kisses.
Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments. It's nice to see other Rat Terrier owners out there, too!
As of this moment, Sophie is sitting on my father's desk (Hi Dad!) in AZ reading the comments with him. She's a mini Rat Terrier and regrettably, both ears are now up. :-( She's grown a bit since these photos but still loves to be hugged and kissed, except by the pool man who has somehow gotten on her bad side.
She's a real sweetie and we're happy to share her with you all.
Thanks again!
She's got that fabulous look - what can I get into next? She will bring so many smiles and laughs to your parents. I love a dog that has fire in her soul. Hugs and belly kisses.
Look at the "sleeping lit'l angel dog!"
Sophie Jean, you look very much like my Jack Russell Terror(I mean terrier) and you sound very much like a little Jack too. My little Lego, will play fetch until she falls over from exhaustion. Maybe the people that Mommy and Daddy got you from just didn't want to say the word "Jack Russell" (for the fear that people would run away screaming.... NOOOO Jack Russell's..... (LOL)
What ever they're calling you, you are precious!!!! Mom and Dad, put your running shoes on, this one is going to keep you busy. 11 biscuits for you Sophie, and many happy years with your family!
Hi-
What a cutie. Is this pup part Jack Russell terrier? Looks a lot like my JRT. Very cute. Sounds like this cute puppie gts into lots of trouble.
Sharon
What a sweet little baby, I love the way her ear is standing up as if to say "Hi!" Would love to kiss the top of her sweet head! :-)
What a grown up name for such a tiny puppy- but it certainly fits her! I love the one ear up one ear down look- what a cutie!
What a sweetheart!
Your folks have their work cut out for them -- we adopted our first RT puppy 8 years ago and she's as rambunctious today as she was at 8 weeks old. (They settle a bit at age 4.) Wouldn't have our Stella Luna any other way. She's a Decker Giant RT -- 28# of feisty fun!
Recently adopted a 4-year-old, male Smooth Fox Terier thru Fox Terrier Rescue. With Reggie and Stella, we now have twin terrors ruling the household : ) Twice the frolick!
Sharon,
Rat Terriers are a completely different breed than Jack Russells. Rat Terriers are an American breed, and Jack Russells are British, you'll note they have different accents, ;) and while they look similar, the Rat Terrier is finer boned and has a much calmer personality. They're far more socially sensitive and trainable, and aren't on 24/7. This isn't to say that there's anything wrong with Jack Russells, they're a wondeful breed. The Rat Terrier is just a bit more of a lap dog.
Sophie Jean is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!! 11 biscuts all the way. My little boy is sick with the chicken pox and when he saw Sophie Jean he just smiled and said "so cute, so cute, so cute". He is three and loves puppies. Many happy days Sophie Jean.
Love this girl- My first foster dog this year was a fox terrier with possible chihauha(sp) She looks just like my Toby was. He was the most loving little guy and stole my heart. Fortunately he was adopted within 10 days and I was thrilled with the new parents he got. He will forever be my favorite (until the next one of course) Kisses and hugs for this baby girl!!!
Absolute beauty!
I love the way one ear goes up - like she wavin', saying "Hi!"
And aren't her eyes cute?
I don't know which is cuter ... that perky upright ear, or that adorable pink puppy tummy! What a sweetie!
Do not be deceived: Sophie Jean is not napping here. She is recharging her batteries and will be up to full power momentarily! Such a pretty face, but those ears are divine! Bless you, Sophie Jean!
Have never seen this breed, VERY CUTE!!! Give her plenty of pets from me! I have had more than one 'fur-sister' myself. My parents do love me more than them though, at least that is what I tell myself! = ) Enjoy your baby.
You can just smell the puppy sweetness!!! Sophie Jean is just a delightful way to begin the weekend. Have fun, little cutiepie!!!
Oh my goodness!!! I have a Rat Terrier puppy names Stella! She is so spunky! This little girls is amazing!
I love her colors, you are lucky to find one that is light brown!!!
She is ADORABLE!! Enjoy every minuted of her!!!
I don't know how a puppy could get any cuter. I know she'll bring her family lots of love and laughs.
Very cute, however another shelter doggie just lost a home to an intentionally bred for profit pup. I know it's not what we want to hear but reality is just that, reality...
Ahhh! Sophie, you are the definition of adorable. Perfect puppy face, and that ear is simply to die for! <33333333333
Sooo Sooo Cute. I love the lil ear sticking up. Reminds me of the cute lil puppy on the flea commercial... "Aint no bugs on me!" Yours looks like a lil sweet heart. Your so lucky and so is she.
Arizona, huh? Wherever she travels she is sure to bring happiness....... and when that other ear pops up (and it will) I imagine her catching an air current and taking flight from where she can drop her little water balloons....... nah, just kidding, but you have the face for mischief, Sophie Jean.
tammatha - While I appreciate you thinking about shelter pups, you are off-base in your criticisms. Shelter pups don't lose homes because of people who buy wanted animals from breeders, they lose homes because of careless and irresponsible owners who do not spay or neuter or decide they just don't want the responsibility of a pet anymore. I personally have two shelter kitties, my sister has rescued several dogs from being turned over to the kill pound and one brother has a fabulous shelter dog. The fact is, it's not loving and responsible pet owners who are to blame for this sad state of affairs. It's hose certain people who have no right to call themselves pet owners who are.
That face is so adorable. I love the ears but I 'm sure she is as cute as ever with them both up. Your parents are lucky to have her and vice versa.
First and most importantly, I want to say how beautiful I think Sophie Jean is....you're going to have lots of wonderful years with her!!
Second, I want to say GO AWAY tamantha and others who are so negative. You had no idea the circumstances behind Sophie Jean coming into the lives of her 'parents' when you so rudely made your comment. Obvioulsy Sophie Jean's parents are caring, loving people who happened to fall in love with a beautiful girl named Sophie Jean. It's a puppy that will have a home where they will be well taken care of and loved.....isn't that what it's all about??
Awwww! We have a 7 month old 1/2 rattie 1/2 chihuhua, looks really similar. Ours is a toy merle on the rattie side, and the ears were floppy like Sophie's too! Now they are both straight up, darn it! Ours has the same white stripe down the face, aren't they just too much fun! So much energy!!! Enjoy your sweet girl!
Michael has specifically requested that you argumentative people who want to make negative comments post them in the forum where they belong & are appropriate. NOT on puppy owner's pages. If it bothers you too much & aren't capable of that (moderator requested) courtesy, then don't come to the site!
She is a real cutie. My son and daughter-in-law have seven of these dogs that they show and race. What bundles of energy, but so lovable. They treat them like children, not dogs.
She's a dollface. I love her one ear up and one ear down. A couple of friends have rat terriers, they are sooooo darling! Much tummy rubs to Sophie Jean!
what a sweet little puppy face!
