Surprise the Papillon
Surprise's mom says: Surprise Petals is the first and only pup to our much adored Lily Bliss. Although we were not intending to keep any of Lilys puppies, this single pup stole our hearts from the moment we watched her be born and that was the "surprise." Lily did not show the signs of being in labor that I was watching for and the day went along as usual: We walked, played Frisbee and sat in the sun. Later that day when I took her and the others out, I noticed she was standing still and didnt come when I called her. I walked to her, but she still didn't move. I lifted her tail and -- surprise -- the pup was making her entrance in the backyard! Watching Surie grow from weighing 3 3/4 ounces and being smaller than my cell phone to a robust 1 1/2 pounds in 12 weeks has been nothing but amazing. Lily's undivided attention to her and meticulous care make us proud. Surie is an adventurer and confidently follows her mom and the other dogs, Cashew and Mercury throughout the yard. She eagerly removes any flower she can reach and runs like she got the prize. Her fur is like cashmere and her ears are like flower petals. We love her to pieces and are so happy she is ours.

Awe look at that, already she has a great taste in music! Does she howl like a werewolf? Thank you so much for the wonderful journey from birth to where she is at now, I don't know if I want to cry or laugh out loud it is so touching! Mom and Surie are just too beautiful. Just as an FYI, her nickname Suri (without the e) is also a very fitting one, meaning 'celestial sun', since she shines so beautifully on your lives! Thanks so much for taking and sharing these amazing pictures! It's great to see Surie's metamorphosis from a precious little piglet to a miniature Butterfly! I've just been realizing how wonderful this site is for allowing us to see puppy pictures of all breeds and mixed breeds that we wouldn't normally get to see. Yours are even more rare for showing a newborn puppy with her mother and how she's grown. Congratulations on your beautiful family!

How wonderful to see these little dogs. I have a black and white Papillon male, and got to see him when he was a newbie, too. I have been amazed at how intelligent he is and what a wonderful personality he has. He understands everything we say, and I swear he can even spell - he hates baths and we can't even spell the word around him - his reaction is to run and hide under the bed! You will continue to absolutely love your darling little dog to pieces, as we do ours - who is named "Woody", by the way. I am astonished at how much Suri and Lily look like our little dog - they could be carbon copies of each other. I know you will have many years of love from these little beauties, and how lucky they are to have someone who obviously loves them so much. Enjoy them to the fullest!

Overdosed on sweetness! No way I could pick a favorite. I want and am saving this Daily Puppy in a special Daily Puppy file, so that I can look at those two precious faces over and over. Sweet jesus...you've nearly killed me with the cuteness (and I'm a big dog person). I don't know what it is about this breed, but I have a fondness for them that just increased about 20 fold. I've been trying to get my mom to get one for years. I'll have to show her Suprise.

There truly is nothing more touching to watch than a mother caring for her newborn, and animals are even more endearing than humans. It is such a miracle to see how the mother knows exactly what to do, even the first time!
You have a beautiful little family there! Keep taking photos--we still love to look at our puppy births and newborn pictures and it has been 13 years since the last litter!

I am kind of blase about little dogs so I almost didn't check this out, but I'm glad I did. We don't often get to see the complete metamorphosis, almost like a "real" butterfly, from lumpy little thing to wide-eyed beauty.
I love the way she and her mom share the same lop-sided white mark on their foreheads.
Oh my, Oh My..How can you pass this little sweetie up..And this pic says "I am a proud Mommy"..O my is all I can say..sooooo adorable..All the pics are grrrreat..mommy looks soo sweet too..Im sure they will bring Much love in the household..(and trouble) hehe

I love how you showed the pictures SO perfectly as to show them from near birth to now ----- she's so beautiful and the pictures are all great, so I'm obliged to say that ALL the pictures are remarkable, but I think that I'll pick this one, because of the awesome size comparsion! :D
