Corky certainly brightens up my day when I see him. He's a special little guy.

What a little peanut! He's so cute!
Jun 7, 2006 kudzu-s Keeper
Well, well, he looks a lot like my dog (or my dog looks a lot like him.) Maybe my Kudzu has Basenji in him, too!
Jun 7, 2006 Skwerly
Yodeling??? LOL

I thought Basenjis were quiet dogs!
Jun 7, 2006 Danielle
Very Cute!

Thank you for the nice comments. He is still a little cutie.
Ipinch-Corky's ears make it very easy for us to read what's on his mind. They act in a way like a person's eyebrows.
Skwerly-basenjis are barkless dogs, wich does not necessarily mean they are quiet. They can make a lot of different noises including screaming if you're making them do something they don't want to like cutting their nails. Corky is pretty quiet though and only yodels (their form of barking if you will) when he is in trouble or when someone he loves has arrived. He does not yodel at strangers or when strangers are around.

Corky is a doll! Such joy & affection beaming through his eyes. He's a beautiful Basenji and I'm sure a true friend.

I love speckly noses!!! He is AMAZING!! That curly tail and wide-eyed expression make me laugh out loud. :) I love dogs that make noises besides barking. I will never forget how cute my beagle was when she bayed at passersby. I miss her melodious commentary. My other dogs just bark....repeatedly. :)

What a cute pup. I don't think I have ever heard of the breed banseji before this. Sophie is cute too.

i love basenjis and i haven't seen one w/ this coloration for a while...thanx for sharing

Once you have a basenji you're hooked. They are a challenge but well worth it. If you're thinking of getting a basenji check out some basenji sites first. They are very hard to contain and can climb a chain link fence like a ladder. They get bored fairly easily. Corky still steals my shoes to chew on occasion. If you can contain them and keep them occupied, they are great companions.

Further proof that Basenji's are the supermodels of the canine world.

LOL! You are so right Basenjiman! Basenji's are most ellegant dog. They can be standing, sitting, laying, running, jumping or anthing else and all you see is beauty.

I love this dog!!! He is very precious. We have two basenjis down the street and they are big escape artists. I have tried to catch them and they are very wiley!!!! I love the tricolor!!!! Beautiful doggie.

Thanks DogMom! Fortunately Corky has no clue that he can scale our 4' chainlink with ease. :)

She is tri colored and doesn't bark, very hyper..lol Love her very much, but as seniors she is a hand full..

Awww, it sounds like you found a jem. :)

this is the cutest little guy! There are two basenji's down the street from me and I just love to see them playing. Every once in while they escape the backyard and their people have quite a time catching them -- the dogs think it is a great game of tag!!!! Corky is just beautiful!!!!

he is such a cutie pie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also love the colors of his fur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

basenjis are the opera singers of the dog world. the sheer range and volume that they can command is awesome. they are very hard to hide. and there is no space they can't escape if they are motivated enough. this one's a doll. so is his sister, sophie. corky's family have their hands full.
Mar 13, 2007 Mamasobuco
Corky is not your typical basenji. He's a very good boy and would never try to escape without his brother Buddy. He is also not a door runner. Corky doesn't chew on anything either. We are very blessed with a very good basenji.
You are so right about their vocal abilities. My boy doesn't yodel too often but when he does it is music to our ears. :)

You're lucky to have such a beaufiul puppy! :) ;) I have a basenji, and she is my LIFE! Take good care of him!!! :)

adorable! i love is sister too...
May 29, 2007 catkath
What a charming boy! I also have a 4 year old basenji, and she is beautiful.
Jun 16, 2007 rozee9893
awww! My basenji is just as much work (if not more)!!! Be sure to get any basenji puppy's eyes checked! Mine is almost completely blind because of bad blood lines (shes only 3). These dogs are trainable and LOVE food!!! They are easily distracted and though I don't wanna say anything bad about basenjis, they are quite a handful!!! Mine always takes anything "fluffy" and sometimes we call her fluffy! She is the whole reason I'm such a happy person! These dogs are worth the challenge, especially when you need someone to cheer you up or amuse you (Kira is a little clown)!!! I agree with people that some basenjis are aggressive though they don't only deserve bad facts. I love snuggling with my basenji, Kira, at night-she keeps me warm!!
Jun 16, 2007 rozee9893
My basenji also is a TALKER!!! She yodels, and has learned (from our neighborhood dogs) how to bark! She is amazing and amusing and AWESOME! I love coming home from school because she is always there to lower her ears flat against her head, chortle, and wagg her whole body for me! These dogs are amazing companions. BTW- mine knows her left from right!!! (We tell her to shake-either left or right!)

I emailed the Pedigree Dog Food company to find out what kind of dog the last one was on their current commercial. It's white with ears that point up and has a big smile on his face. They emailed back and said it was a Basenji. As much as I love my dog, the Basenji on the commercial has got to be the cutest dog in the world. It's a very touching ad and when the Basenji comes on at the end you just want to bust out laughing since he's so cute. They said his name is Fig.

Corky is really cute looking. It's a good thing that you were up to the challenge of raising him!

Mar 29, 2011 coco'smom
Does anyone know when a basenji puppy begins to "talk?" My Coco is 4 months old and, except when she yawns, is pretty quiet. We have had Basenjis before, but not for many years and I just plain don't remember when the "talking" begins - and I'm looking forward to it with Coco!

ah Corky, who could say no to you? :-)
