He trains every day, but he still has time to be a puppy and play! His favorite hobbies are meeting new people, helping his parents look out for bunnies, and educating people about service dogs. Beautiful Dempsey you a true champion. Learning to be a service dog probably takes a lot of time but I'm glad that you have to be a puppy. You will be a great help to the person you will live with. Tons of hugs, kisses, tummy rubs, and bikkies for you sweetie.
It's tiring being a little hero! Dempsey's clearly a champ; many, many scritches and biscuits for this perfect guy. And some "people biscuits" for his people, who have the generosity to help train a service dog and the willpower to give him up when he's ready -- I couldn't do it!

You are proof that angels do walk among us. I volunteer at a shelter and foster and it is hard enough to turn over those dogs when they get adopted - I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it would be to give up a puppy after raising him for months and months! I know it is for the greater good,but I stand in awe of anyone like you who can give up this sweet little (soon to be big) thing.

My name is Fiji! I'm 3yrs old and have been with my mom, for almost two years. *my 4th bday is in July* She tells her friends she doesn't know what ever did without me. But I just think helping her is cool! I get to go everywhere with her and we see all kinds of things. And I think you are very brave to join Helping Paws!!! They sound like a great organization that I would join if I were still a puppy, but my situation didn't allow me to get out much, but that's another story, and now I have too many grey whiskers for that kind of work, but I really admire your pluck to devote yourself to the service of others!! But I feel like in this picture you are feeling the pressure of your job, remember to have fun and always make time to meet new people and chase bunnies and remember there are more than just bunnies out there!!!! Squirrels, birds, and of course cats can all be chased!! It is a great way to relax when work is getting to you!! Dempsey's "dad" here, saying THANK YOU to everyone for your nice comments! "Mom" and I are very proud of what a sweet, smart puppy Dempsey is! We think he is going to have a wonderful life as a grownup service dog. People who get service dogs know they're getting a dog and not a robot! Robots can fetch, but only dogs can bring love and joy. Dempsey has so much love to share, we would be selfish to keep him all to ourselves. (Though I admit we're tempted to be selfish when he's being super cute! :-)
Oh Dempsey, don't be sad! You get to change someone's life! And you'll still be loved and cherished and played with and you'll be the answer to someone's prayers. Your trainers are pretty special people. I'm sure they love you too but are willing to let you go to help someone else.

Dempsey's dad here again! To answer NoaPuppyLover's question, Dempsey is NOT tied up. He's wearing a Gentle Leader, which is a humane collar that prevents pulling and tugging. It may look like a muzzle, but it's not. You can read a review of the Gentle Leader on about.com. Dempsey is NEVER tied down or staked. We only use humane techniques to train our sweet little baby!
