Havana's mom says: Havana was a gift for our two-year-old German shepherd, Tahoe. She is a sweet-natured pup who enjoys life in general. She is very independent and smart. At only seven weeks, she understood commands given to her and was house-trained. She has been a wonderful addition to the family!

I guess I didn't realize that German Shepherds came in black! Do those ears naturally do that wackiness? She's a sweetie. I like that she's always got some sort of shmutzy stuff all over her face. Makes her a "real" dog. ;)
What an intelligent looking face Havana has. I love it when their ears start to go up, they just can't work out which way to sit. Tahoe looks happy to have a sister and Havana seems to have grown in confidence since that photo was taken. Have lots of fun together.
Arghhh. I didn't know which pic to choose. One with those little floppy ears, or a little later with the cute, crazy ears? Finally, I'm just a puppet for buddy/pal pic- so I had to choose this one. They will be a great team. Tahoe is fantastic and Havana is fabulous. I love her ears! I wish this duo many long and happy years together. Both are just gorgeous :)

AWWWW...HAVANA IS BEYOND "PRECIOUS"!!!! How fortunate you are. I've wanted a black GS since I don't remember when.... I adopted MY BOY "Harley" from the Human Society. He's German Shepherd/Collie mix, and his attitute is ALL GS! Tahoe is the prime example of the original beautiful GS! You are one very fortunate Mommy...but I'm sure you already knew this!!! I think it's SO SWEET how you worded it that she was a gift for Tahoe*big smile*. I ALSO got my "Harley" a puppy when he was 1yr old. WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MADE IN HARLEY...HE WAS SOOOO HAPPY TO HAVE A LITTLE BROTHER!!!!!

I've always had GS and Colly mix dogs on the farm Their loyal , loving , guard dogs, who watched over my3 babies as they grew up. I never had them as puppies, and now I can see how sweet they are. so glad you have 2 now , they will be so much happier

GSDs are my favorite breed, and you seem to have found a winner! Love the look in her eyes! Tahoe is gorgeous too, of course!
Havana is truly a beauiful GSD. I love her smile in this shot, or is she just showing her lovely tongue and teeth?? Anyway, she is so pretty. :)

Cute puppy. I have a 7 year old Black German Shepherd mix and she is pure black. She has been the best dog so far. We adopted a puppy last year for my son and Sassy has treated the puppy like it was hers. I love the bigger dogs.
Havana is absolutely gorgeous! You are so lucky! We have a (nearlly all) black german shepherd too and the photos of your puppy reminded me of him. The one that came up on my "home page" automatically is just like our max, and I lost a heart beat this morning looking at it. Enjoy your dogs- may you have a lifetime of fun together!

I LOVE Shepard's ears!!! They are so fun to watch! Mine ended up with one that stands up and one that flops! Makes for a very expressive (silly) look! We love it! Enjoy your GS's!

When I was much younger, our family had a black GS named "Giesela" after a young girl my dad had met in Germany during the war. She was just the best dog, and so full of love. We got her from a friend of my brother's and since there were no "papers" we paid $50 - we never actually ever had a dog that had those! I remember how we taught her to sing with us. She was incredibly smart and of course trained very well. (We went to Kellog's College of Canine Knowledge in PA). Oh, I do remember the ears being very wacky when she was young. We had a lot of laughs about that. You will just love this dog, I know it. Oh, the hours of playing and loving you will have!
Oh, what intelligence I see in these eyes..! Our best friends, these dogs who understand us humans so very well, are such great companions. You have two beautiful dogs and I know that you will bring each other great love and joy.

Just have to love those ears. Too bad they can't have that full range of expression when older. Unusally colored but very attractive.
I'm another one who had never seen a black GSD before this. She's so adorable! I'm just discovering the joys of having a Shepherd around because we are raising one for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. We have raised Labs for them but my husband and daughter wanted a Shepherd this time. I wasn't so sure, since I am so in love with Labs but this little girl has stolen my heart! Although her puppy coat is kind of long I think she is going to look like Tahoe, becuase both her parents do. Both your dogs are gorgeous!

Harry's two best friends, Kai and Cooper, are GSD's and they are fab...
I have always admired these dogs for their intelligence and strenght, they are great dogs to work with.

I have just noticed the time at the bottom of my post 18.36... It's 23.14 here in Scotland and wee Harry has been out for his last wee-wee and is now in the land of nod!

I love German Shepards!!! We have always had them in our family growing up. Such a beautiful puppy!! Of course Tahoe is gorgeous too. I love them both. How cute is he in this picture with those ears. We used to have a shepard who's ears did not stay up. My brothers used to try and tape them up so they would stay. They would tell Rex, "you are a shepard, your ears are supossed to stay up". It was really funny. anyway, enjoy these two great dogs.

Who is the mean old mommy and daddy that gave her a bath! Her whole face is saying "ohmigawd". What a sweetie pie! I've never seen a black shepherd but she is gorgeous. And trained at 7 weeks! Hoooee, what a pup. She is certainly a keeper.
Her ears will eventually stand straight like Tahoe's .This will take some time usally after she is done teething !! To get the smileys hit "shift" while holding it down hit semi collan then bracket :)

OMGosh, this reminds us of our beloved Sarge who passed away last year at the age of 10. You are truly blessed to have this wonderful dog. Enjoy him, ok?

wow, it reminds me of my own GSDs. It takes a special person to receive the love of the GSD, looks like you have a lot of love coming your way!!! They remind me so very much of mine. We rescued Jack from certain death at 4 weeks old and fought for his life for over 6 months but he was always such a happy pup and a truely handsome saddle back. We didn't expect to get another GSD because he seemed so happy with his dachshund family, but as a lover of the breed, when Jack was about a year old, we fell in love with a solid black ball of energy and along came Janet. She took his toys, chewed on his radar ears, attacked him when he was sleeping if she was ready to play, and he loved every minute of it! We thought we would get a solid white or cream female and call her Chrissy from 'Three's Company' but seeing the bond between these two, we wondered if three might be a crowd. They have given us gorgeous puppies but after only 2 litters, Janet bled with the last litter, and we almost lost her, which is common in the GSD, so with a heavy heart, this will be her last. We have decided to go ahead and find 'Chrissy', and Janet can be the aunt.

I can't pick a photo, She is just to dang cute for words! And I want those ears, too precious. That is quite the dynamic duo you have and I wish you years of joy watching them grow and play.
How do you get Havana's ears to stand on end like that? I love the picture of her with the adult shepherd. She doesn't look much like a shepherd, but maybe she will as she gets older.
I like this picture the best. She so reminds me of my Shadow that passed away several years ago. She was half GS and half Chow. Beleive it or not she was the SWEETEST dog. Noone would ever beleive she had Chow in her. (although you could tell by her tongue). I miss Shadow terribly, but seeing your Havana today brought the biggest smile to my face. Enjoy her!
