Kate's mom says: Kate is one clever four-legged "fur daughter." Sometimes she comes across as being sort of slow, however she has methods to her madness. In the morning before she'll go outside, she'll look at me and then flatten herself out on the floor for her "rubbins." That's what we dubbed her full-body massage. We're not sure how this started, but she won't go outside until she's been massaged. To make sure Kate was good with having her feet handled, I started trimming her toenails very early, at three months. Then I'd file the rough edges with my emery board. Now when I file my own nails, she sits and gives me her paws to be filed as well.

Oh what a beauty! Actually, she sounds very smart an certainly knows what she wants! Kate the Great! I love the pic of her in profile-- she looks very stunning and she is so good having her nails done-- she likes to be pampered! The last pic is just great- I love that beautiful face. Kate, you're such a beautiful girl!!! I want a Great Dane at some point. Big dogs are the best (we have a St Bernard and 2 Great Pyrenees). In our house "rubbins" are "lovins" and our puppies require them at almost all times. They are quite spoiled. All great dogs are!!! You are such a wonderful snuggly baby girl!!!!!
Kate is a beautiful girl! I love uncropped ears on a Great Dane and hers are certainly spectacular! I also love that she asks to have her nails filed. I wish our dogs would do that!

Kate is tremendous!!! She looks as though her ears are quite expressive. Must be fun to watch! I would give her rubbins' any ol' time...that could take a while.
All of you with puppies out there should use Kate's Mom's tip about trimming nails early. Kate's Mom is so smart!! I wish I had done that, then my dog wouldn't have torn his toe nail. He's better now but I sure couldn't file them!

She is absolutely beautiful and good on you for not having her ears clipped, her floppy ears make her that much more loveable.
Kate- you are one precious pup! My girl Nala likes her nail "done" as well. She prefers a light pink glittery polish. I wish you many many years with your sweet baby.

What a beautiful girl! I think what makes her so loveable is how she can look totally regal in one photo and then like a silly puppy in the next one! I just love her "mask" and her big ol' paws!!!!
Kate is absolutely adorable. I would love to wrap my arms around her neck & plant kisses on her nose. Danes are great family members & I hope some day to be able to have a Dane in mine. Enjoy all the years of love she has to give.

OOOOooooo!!!!!!!!!!! She's so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What unusual ears, though. She looks a lot like my Lab-Dane (we think) mix, Murphy. I'm sure he would be mooning over her if he saw her. Hooray for not cropping the ears!!!! Murphy gets "rubbins" too, although we call it "a ruffle" because his fur sticks up! It's great for cheering him up when he's "gwumpy!"

We too had a fur person called Champers. He was a Great Dane and when he passed away, at the age of 10 years, part of us went with him.
Everyone told us that dogs were afraid of hoovers. They had not met Champers. We had to lift his tail to vacuum around him, and he LOVED to have the brush part gently brushing his back. I would say that they are uniquely loveable fur people.

Yes, I too want to congratulate you on your decision to not crop the ears. If God didn't want big floppy ears, he wouldn't have made them! I work in an animal hospital that is against ear cropping, but in the past I've seen the procedure and after-effects first hand. Its just too much pain and uncomfort to put an animal through for nothing! ...And just look how beautiful she is with those ears!

I've never had a Great Dane but love them. Our home is way too small for a Dane but had I the room, I would have one. I saw a lady at my vets office one day that had a Harlequin Great Dane; I never realized how large a dog they get to be. Her dog looked like a pony next to her!

What a cutie! She looks like she's going to be huge! And I LOVE the coloring on her face - it looks like she stuck her nose in a can of black paint :) I want to run and play with her!
DANES RULE!!!! My precious baby Tank passed away four years ago and we still miss him. I wish you many happy healthy years with Kate!
She is just lovely. I'm so glad you did not crop her ears. I have a 7 year old great dane named Charlie who is the love of my life. He is also a fawn and has been the greatest joy of my life.

Your Kate is really a lovely Dane Baby. Very clever indeed!!! I also have a Kate, a blue Dane, 5.10 yrs old, who is quite clever also. I love, love, love my Kate and I love your Kate too. Danes are so beautiful and large and loving. My Kate never learned the grace of having her nails done. I tried and tried but she still won't allow anyone to touch her "tootsies" because of a bad scare at a 'Petsmart' in Wilmington, NC experience with a groomer.

What a funny dog! I loved the pictures with the water bottle, and the look on her face when she was getting her nails filled, was priceless. She is a pampered pooch for sure! 11 buiscuits for humor and cuteness!
Now I know why the English aristocracy had Danes. So beautiful and Kate is no exception. And that black muzzle just adds to her gracious poise look.

Don't You Dare crop those ears !!! To me, personally, Big Dogs just seem to be better. Maybe it's the way their paws look too big for their legs. I'm not sure.
She is gorgeous. Her face so beautiful. I thought it was so cute what you said about doing your toe nail together. Im sure you put some nice pink polish on them when your done. Oh, I have a 3-year-old Harly Dane, and Kate makes me miss his puppy stage. But truthfully, Kate is quite dignified, and Murray was always a bit of a a dopey boy!

Who doesn't know a girl without a manicured "paw" clutching a bottle of water? LOL, I'm guilty of it as well. Kate is so sweet and photogenic. Love the big puppies [especially Great Danes]. They're little lap dogs trapped in a big dog's body. I could hug her & give tummy rubs all the time.
