Puppy Breed: Beagle

Leah's sister says: Leah is a miniature beagle that came from a big litter of brothers and sisters. She had a rough start in life but she overcame parvo to grow into a strong and feisty puppy. Most days you can find her playing with a soccer ball in the backyard, wrestling with her stuffed rabbit, or licking her big beagle brother, Beau, all over his face. She is greatly loved by her family, Amy, Gene, Andrew, and Sara.

Love the leg-extended lie-down that only little puppies seem to manage (with the tail completely erect, cause of the hip angle)... awesome puppy! And high five for the parents to help her through parvo (lots just have the dog put down).

Reagle Rawg! She is definitely a QT pie. I'm glad to see she is recovered from the nasty virus.

As a proud mama of two beags, I certainly am a fan of the breed. But I have to tell you...there is no such thing as a miniature or "pocket" beagle. Anyone claiming they breed mini beags is lying. The AKC standard specifies 13" or 15" at the shoulder.

The facts that someone sold her as "miniature" and that she came to you with parvo means that her breeder is very very dangerous and irresponsible. Please don't recommend them to anyone!

Skwerly, AKC is for breeders, breeding sucks. Adopt a homeless pet. Leah is adorable, and a pocket pup by her family's standards, thats all that matters. No matter her circumstances, parvo can attack any pup. What matters is that someone loved her enough to treat her, which is very expensive. Many die because the overpopulation of animals means that there arent enough families to love those who need help. How important do your breeding standards seem now?

What a cute pup. I have to 13" beagles myself and love them - but I hate it when people call them "Miniature". Or is she a pocket beagle (a real breed -11" but not AKC recognized). If it weren't for responsible breeders there would be more demand for puppies that come from situations like Leah. I'm so glad she found a loving home.

Beagles make my world go 'round. Leah, my heart is in your tiny, tiny paws.

I just want to alert the owners that there are laws against showing that much pup tummy without a permit. It is dangerous for people because they look at the pup tummy and suffer complete brain meltdown. For this reason, Leah should come with a warning.

Note to Mamapiper: I think that Skwerly was just commenting on the unscrupulousness of some breeders, not saying that only dogs who are AKC certified are worthy of love. I happen to agree that breeders who "market" dogs incorrectly are probably pretty shady in other areas, too. However, Leah is cute as a button, and I am certainly glad she is safe and beagle-riffic.

I am so happy for you and Leah. As i sit here typing I am lost in tought of my beagle.Rosco who is 14 weeks tomorrow and seems cursed at birth. The only living pup of a 11yr old (only of all litters)she refused to feed so I did he has always had trouble holding body temp but full of life and so happy. He is now entering his 3rd day of vet stay and gone from home we hunt and breed some and never had issues with Parvo but our familys mirical and angel has been attack by this horrible illness. He is my son as I cared for him as my 2 boys and that is there little bubba so please pray for Rosco and our family as we will no the fait of our baby in the morning, as well pass this on to all you know,all prayers appreciated. I will update as I can.
