Her feet look like little cookie monster hands =]
Shes adorable! Have many happy years with Lizzie!
Mar 1, 2008 OleBrumm
Lizzie looks darling! I love beardies and their personalities. Wish I could tell for certain what the cross is with. my guess would be Newfoundland, based on her size as a puppy. Could also be Lab.
Mar 1, 2008 megs
Aww, what unique markings! I love her coat! I have no clue on the other breed, though! And do you mean that she's potty trained, or human-toilet trained?! Stupid question, I know, but I think some people have done it! Anywho, she's a cutie pie!!
Mar 1, 2008 Oneandonlyohmicke
What a big cuddly sweetie! Just like a teddy bear. Lots of love to you, lovely Lizzie :-)!
Mar 1, 2008 suelill

Mar 1, 2008 raerae
she's lovely and has a look of an "old soul", even though she's just a pup, she know about life.

I hope you learn lots from her!
Mar 1, 2008 Chico'sMom
What a beautiful girl! She looks just like my lovely boy (also a rescue dog). I'm told he is a Bearded Collie/Old English Sheepdog mix (a big, fluffy monster!)
I wish you many, many years of happiness, love and fun together. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures
Mar 1, 2008 whoopiwho
She is soo cute and fluffy!! I love the white markings on her.
Mar 1, 2008 more
I think she's got a bit of Newfoundland, at least she looks like my brother's Newfoundland, that means she's going to be a big dog! ;) Anyways she's so very cute! Lots of biscuits. :)
Mar 1, 2008 iandun
Agree that it's probably a Newfie cross - when the picture first loaded, I thought it was a Newfie. Absolutely huggable!
Mar 1, 2008 paws4thought
Yeh i agree she does look a bit Newfoundlandish because i have a newfoundland and he looks a bit like her, but if she does have newfounland in her she is going to be big....oh so big!
i picked this picture because she looks very laid back and calm, possibly a bit sleepy.
I love fluffy dogs, like Lizzie and Ozzie (my newfoundland) and her face is just adorable!
She is a wonder dog......people wonder what she is!
she should be a gentle loveable fluffy little angel, and you are so lucky to have her.
I love her white markings.
oh she could also have a bit of Lab in her........
i dunno just a guess but whatever she is, she is just incredible.
I give you a whopping 11 BISCUITS and blessings and i hope you have many happy memories wih her aahhhh!

Thats the way it is isn't it...?
you are on a gentle stroll when you pop into a rescue centre, not looking for a dog but just you know looking at them, commenting
AND THEN.........
there she is the pup of your dreams looking at you folornly through the bars....

she is a rescue dog?? do my ears decieve me or are you telling me that she was abandoned???!!!!!
who could do such a thing to this precious bundle of fluff????
OMG that is outrageous... i mean, come on she is
well done for rescueing her.... i well i suppose you didn't really have a just couldn't leave her....who would?

anyway i wish you all the best
have such fun
good luck
enjoy it!

I'm sensing Bearded + Border.
You know, DNA breed kits are available nowadays, if you really are curious.
Mar 1, 2008 maddie's mom
Lizzie is really pretty and looks so gentle.
I have no idea what she is crossed with, but whoever her parents were, she is a beautiful girl.
Thank you for giving her such a loving home.
Mar 1, 2008 shortysmom
She is beautiful, maybe some Portuguese waterdog. What a wonderful thing to rescue a dog. You'll be rewarded 10 fold with the love and companionship. There is nothing better than the love of a dog.

Mar 1, 2008 yujismom

Mar 1, 2008 DaveyDog
In 1973 I had a friend who ran the local municipal animal shelter and he called me at work to say "your dog is here". "George", I said, "I already have a dog!" "I know", he said, "but this is your OTHER dog." That's how I got my Maggie Muggins, also a beardie cross. Your little beauty looks just like her and her pictures made me smile. My Maggie was the very, very best dog you could have while working full time, running a household and having two little boys. She was protective of the boys, loving, quiet, unassuming and extremely easy maintenance considering the time available for "the dogs"!! She'd been abandoned under nasty circumstances, but never held a grudge. She enjoyed every aspect of family life for 15 years 'til we had to say good-bye. The photo I've chosen looks the most like my Maggie. Her adult weight was 35 - 40 lb.
I thought Portuguese Water Spaniel when I first looked at the photo, too, but I'm sure it doesn't matter. Four legs, waggy tail, always happy to see you ... yup, it's a dog. I check DP most days, and you've made "goldenlover" happy today ... me, too. Bless 'em all. Ontario Canada
Mar 1, 2008 veronica11
It looks like you might have a new "chic" cross, the Border-Poo.

She's a beauty!
Mar 1, 2008 soccerlover111

Mar 1, 2008 savon19
She's from that rare breed called: ONE OF A KIND!!

Adorable. So good that she found loving home with you.

Lizzie looks SO huggable! Lucky you.
Mar 1, 2008 coyne12
Precious Lizzie!!

Agree that she's one of a kind.

Thanks for rescuing her and wishing you many happy times together!!
Mar 1, 2008 jaccikay
God Bless you for saving Lizzie and taking her home. She is adorable. I love her markings. Maybe she has some Giant Schnauzer in her. She will be very big then, like a Great Dane. She is surely mixed with lots of love for you!! God Bless you all with love, health, and happiness..
Mar 1, 2008 FRITZY
Lizzie is so beautiful. I have no idea what mix she might be, but it does not matter. It must have been quite a match to produce such a lovely, sweet, furry puppy!!! Thanks for rescuing her. I am glad she stole your heart at first sight!!!:) Go Lizzie!!!
Mar 1, 2008 djmc
What a beautiful girl. enjoy her and have lots and lots of fun. Love the mix breeds. Bless you for giving her a good home where she can be loved and cared for. 11 biscuits

Mar 1, 2008 LabMommy
Oh Lizzie! So fluffy I just want to cuddle with you! I tried to give you 11 biscuits, but it does not seem to want to just takes me back to the main page!

I had a bearded collie/sheep dog mix growing loving and wonderful. He lived until he was 15! I wish you many happy years together!

I love this picture because she looks like she is in a photo shoot with her little paw out there!!
Mar 1, 2008 denawolves
Lizzie is a wonderful dog- so hard to pick a fav pic! She does look like she's gonna be big, like she needs to grow into her hind legs! It was meant to be when you went to the shelter that day!
Mar 1, 2008 pupsrule
Lizzie is one sweet-looking, lovely girl. I predict she will be the light of your life. Rescue dogs are so special. Don't know what she could be mixed with but I agree with the other posters who said she is mixed with another beautiful dog because she is blessed with some good looking genes. Hoping she has the happiest of lives. Enjoy her.
Mar 1, 2008 Ladydi48
What an adorable little girl you have, and God Bless you for rescuing her. We too have a rescue baby and he is without a doubt one of the sweetest fur kids you could ask for. I have no idea what the cross could be other then "adorapup". Enjoy many, many years with this little girl.
Mar 1, 2008 hodosh
Lizzie has such a sweet face. Don't know what she might be, however when we were at the veterinarian a few days ago, they had a new book out called "The Mutt Book: Decoding Your Mutt's Heritage" it was really interesting. It explains head shape, ear shape, type of body, coat, feet and to what breed they belong. Might be worth purchasing. I know it is about $15 at Barnes and Noble. Even though we have two full breed labs, I bought one just out of interest. Have many joyous years with Lizzie.
Mar 1, 2008 Jilly's Dad
Our Vet offers a DNA test that will detect the various breeds in a crossbreed. It's pricey - about $150 - but if you really want to know Lizzie's genetic heritage, it might be worth asking your Vet about.

Frankly, I would just take Lizzie as she is and will be for many, many more healthy years and enjoy the surprises and discoveries as they come.

Dogs rule!!!!

Lizzie is such a big & beautiful puppy. Love her eyes. What a cutie, she looks like she will grow up to be a big dog. Love all the pictures, but this one is my favorite lying on the grass.
Mar 1, 2008 silverkitty8
What a cutie. I know everyone's saying that she is part Newfoundland, but I originally thought Portuguese Water Dog or even Standard Poodle. Her facial structure just looks like my dog's, who is a standard.
Cute and fluffy.
Mar 1, 2008 CBinID
Absolutely magnificent.
Mar 1, 2008 mqm501
Love the "sloppy sitting". Have many years of happiness with the one and only Lizzie.
Very Best wishes from Spain.

Mar 1, 2008 animalqn
I chose this picture because the lovely Lizzie seems to have such a nice little smile on her face. She seems so happy and content, and why not? She's obviously very loved. :)
Mar 1, 2008 pitmom
She's beautiful! What a doll. Thanks for adopting her. I hope you have many happy healthy years together
Mar 1, 2008 LucyBee
She is purely adorable! Thanks for rescuing her.I'd guess maybe Schnauzer or poodle, but the border collie guess might be a good one too.Whatever it was it was certainly a Success!
Mar 1, 2008 mymalt914
Very sweet face and expression, with a fluffy and beautiful coat. May everyday be a joy to share with her!
Mar 1, 2008 Woofins
Why ask she is a HEINZ... 57 varieties and some more! She is just a beautiful girl and sooooo cute.
Mar 1, 2008 corky
I think some Newfie - a real cutie,
If you really want to know the mix - Martha Stewart recently had a show highlighting rescue pets and evidently your vet can run a DNA type test which will tell you the exact canine mixture.
Mar 1, 2008 melinda cox
Lizzie is a big fluff ball she is so adorable'and her eyes make me melt. What a beauty and great pick.
Mar 1, 2008 JuliaMac65
Lizzie looks as if she is a sister to my 7 year old mixed breed, Max. I am not sure what he is either but intend to soon find out through http://www.whatsmydo, a service that does DNA testing. He is also a rescue and is 40 lbs full grown. will let you know if I find out something. What a cutie she is!!

She could also be part Portugese water dog...
Mar 1, 2008 pauz4paws
Lovely, lovely are beautiful! I agree with raerae that she has the eyes of an "old soul". She looks so wise beyond her puppy years. Who could resist those eyes? I wish I could magically find a good and loving home for every shelter dog....they ask so little of us except to love and feed them...small price to pay for the unconditional love you get in return. Here's wishing you many years of that love to you and your family Miss Lizzie. 11 biscuits for you too. xoxo from all us at the critter camp in Fl.
Mar 1, 2008 Fran
Thank you for rescuing that beautiful girl. Much love and happiness to all.
Mar 1, 2008 dailypuppyfan
That face! Those legs and feet! The fur! SO CUTE! Lizzie looks like she's crossed with a very large teddy bear.
Mar 1, 2008 bordercrazed
As I said, but for some reason it bumped me back to the main page instead of posting it.....

....Hmmmm...something about that stare looks familiar. It may just be an all around collie trait, I suppose. Either way, it wigs me out a little.
Mar 1, 2008 Della
Looks like I'm the only one to see the possibility of Irish Wolfhound.. lol She's adorable and she looks like she could get Really Big! Who knows though... I'd be really interested to know.
Mar 1, 2008 Brunomom
Lizzie is lovely, very lovely. Someone above said she looks wiser than her years, and I believe that to be true, especially in this picture. God bless you and your family for rescuing this lovely Lizzie, she will bring much happiness to your lives as you have done for her.
Mar 1, 2008 esgould99

Mar 1, 2008 SASSY'S DAD
Lizzie is a sweetheart! To me, she looks like possibly a Newfie/Collie mix. Thank you for adopting a rescue pup. They really are the best. Many happy years together.

Mar 3, 2008 flutey48
Who cares what she is mixed with... she is adorable and hugs to you for rescuing her! She'll reward you for the rest of her life for saving her.
Mar 3, 2008 writegirl52
Your Lizzie looks EXACTLY like my Lilly, whom I rescued through Bearded Collie Club except that my Lil has two white front paws where Lizzie looks like hers are in the back. Lil also has the white stripe down her chest and the nose is dead-on and she's smart as a whip! Have a wonderful life with Lizzie; she is so precious. Thanks for sharing her adorable photos.

PS- I'm having Lil's DNA tested - results should be coming in sometime this March. And Lil is about 46 lbs. - medium size. Lizzie may be her "bigger" sister!
Mar 3, 2008 liltinker
So Noble and Soulful (if thats a word). I love this pic. It shows her "puppy" side. It would be easy to actually have a conversation with Lizzie. Im sure she would understand anything you have on your mind. ")
Our mixed dog is named Hoover. When we are asked what kind of dog he is I always say he is Hoover Dog. And he smiles.
Dogs dont care what they are. Just as long as they are loved.

Your Lizzie is so adorable. Thank you for giving her a good home. She will return the love you give her ten-fold.
I have a Lizzie also. I recued her 3 years ago from an abusive situation. She is a mix of Dachsund and Chihuahua, I think. Whatever she is, she is the sweetest dog I've ever had.
Enjoy your baby.
Mar 3, 2008 piobaire
Oh Lizzie has a face that is impossible to resist! And here we get puppy toes too! Goodie on you for rescuing her....she'll give you years of love!

Every once in a while, you come across a puppy picture that just grabs you. This little girl definitely grabs me. I think it's the white spot on her nose and chest. They give Lizzie a very distinctive look. She's very beautiful and I hope she will be with you for life.

Hi Lizzie
You still look a bit tentative, but that will all go away when you forget what may have happened to you before. I'm so glad you chose a lovely family. I also see in your unusual shaped eyes, border collie. If you start to herd, they'll know for sure. You're a sweet little girl.
