Puppy Breed: Boxer

Madison's mom says: Madison -- "Maddie" -- is a very smart and loving puppy. She has brought much joy to our family. When Madison isn't sleeping, she enjoys playing hide-and-seek or playing with her toys. Madison also likes to go to softball games and play with kids and other dogs. She loves everyone. Her small tail wags with joy at everyone she meets.

There's nothing more snuggle-riffic than a tiny puppy who you can just tell is going to grow up to be a huge puppy... the giant paws and ears, the legs too long for the body... she's going to be a giant kiss-monster.

Just to put concerned dog lovers at ease: a boxer's tail is cropped because the tip is very fragile and if it accidently got caught on something it could break leaving room for deadly infections. Cropping tails saves the lives of boxers and many other breeds born with such fragile tails. Cropping ears is a TOTALLY different story. Nothing is gained, but pain, discomfort and possible discrimination, comes out of docking ears. As a boxer owner is breaks my heart when I see the floppy ears cut off.

Cassidy's mama, I don't know who told you that BS about "fragile tails" or what they were smoking, but it's not true.

Tail docking came about the same way ear cropping did- as a desired look for the dog and an intention to have the ears and tails not injured during a fight with an intruder or an animal.

Nowadays, tail docking is purely cosmetic, as is ear cropping. Both are completely unnecessary and ridiculously cruel.
