Nikki's mom says: As owners of two large dogs, we felt the need to have a lap dog that we could tote around with us. We fell in love with little Nikki. She is as sweet as she looks. After a quick run around the house, she likes nothing better than to curl up and sleep with one of us. She makes little kitten noises. She has no fear of our two other dogs (both of whom are very large) and loves to chase butterflies and Guinea hens. We are lucky to have found such a good-natured little friend!

Being a Maltese owner myself, I can certainly relate to your joy and happiness in finding your special little angel. Having once been a three time Yorkie owner, I cannot sing the praises of a Maltese loud enough. They are wonderful!!!! You and Nikki will give your hearts to each other!

I too have two big dogs and decided I wanted a small lap dog. I finally decided to get a mini dachshund and he has absolutly no fear of my 100 pound labs. I think your little girl is sooooooooooooo cute. Enjoy her and give her plenty of love.

I had a Maltese, "JT", short for Jefferson Taylor. I lost him 3 years ago after 15 long, happy years. Nikki brings JT alive to me again!

Nikki, you are just adorable and your brothers/sisters are gorgeous too. I have a maltese/poodle mix rescued from an abusive situation. After almost 3 years of lots of TLC, she is still fearful of having her head touched. With a spunky little girl like Nikki your household will be full of laughter and love. Hugs and kisses.

This picture is the sweetest thing I've ever seen!!! You need to have it blown up as big as you can get it, and hang it in your living room. I would! Nikki is so precious, I gave her 11 biscuits, but if it's butterflies, and guinea hens she prefers, than 11 of each of those too. Nikki makes me want to run out and get another Maltese puppy. I have two older Maltese/Poodles and a medium sized mixed breed. She is so beautiful!!

Doesn't look like she has any fun at all!! NOT! I have a friend with a Maltese, and he's quite a fun little dog. Give her lots of tummy rubs!

Since I have 2 goldens and a definite affinity for the breed, I dearly love the pic of Nikki standing on the bigger dog. I think it is wonderful to see the big dogs with the littles ones, they seem to instinctively know how to play with them without hurting them, it's amazing how they do that! My goldens will get down on the ground and paw at my pomeranian very gently, then they slink down real low to the ground to play with the bassett. It's just so much fun! We could learn a lot from their behaviors towards others!! Enjoy your fluffy-butt!
All very cute but the one running with the tongue out is not only delightful but an excellent photograph. I had a golden too and know how tolerant they are. Thanks for posting her pictures. This website is always a good boost to the day.

I too find it so wonderful how bigger dogs just seem to know how to play with the little ones without hurting them. My lab and beagle play for hours and hours and the beagle can be a bit of a pain to the lab, but she always so gentle with her.

I usually don't like small dogs, but this one is actually really cute. I like small dogs that don't understand that they're small.

Maltese are very addicting!!!! So many people say they aren't small dog people until they meet my Maltese, Shorty. He wins them over in no time. Hypoallergenic too!!
Oh MY, I have been waiting for this little sweetie of a breed to appear on here. I am waiting to find my little Angel of a Multipoo cross to adopt or buy from a breeder. Nikki is so cute! I had to take a peek at the other photos of her. I couldn't believe my eyes, I thought they had come from my own photo albums. I have a little white Bichon, a Golden Retriever and a Bernese Mt. Dog. Sort of the same combination.... I refer to them as "small", "medium" and "large". What a great little dog family you have!

My baby girl is half Maltese, and the greatest thing I ever did with her was socialize her early with big dogs. (In fact, when she was a baby she was SO tiny, they were almost all afraid of HER -- it was like they didn't know what she was. More than a few rather freaked out and would back away from her when she'd try to play.)
To this day, she is absolutely fearless (sometimes a little too fearless, actually), and she defies all "neurotic little dog" stereotypes, because she doesn't get phased when a dog 12 times her size walks up to her wanting to check her out and play.
Enjoy the fun! A well-socialized little dog is a great addition to the family. And there is nothing more fun to watch than a cute little muffin with a great big personality.

I too have a Maltease, named "Peanut". She is our 4th child! We've only had her since Nov. '06. Thet are very smart, and so lovable. We can't imagine our lives without her. But you do have to be careful...they can train you instead! We have turned into the people we used to make fun of.... Peanuts' Honey

Nikki is so lucky to share a home with those two big gentle pooches...my Tess (a lab) shares her home with two (dare I say it ..cats) a persian and a moggie, its really like the 'incredible journey' at times but I wouldn't have it any other way. Well maybe a little Maltese might complete the picture?

Nikki is truly adorable - as everyone has said - it is impossible to pick a favorite picture. I have a Malti-poo who look like her, and someone commented that his ears look like pony-tails that bob up and down when he runs - just like Nikki's picture. You have taken pictures that truly capture her personality. Many happy years with her.
