What has gone so horribly wrong inside a person's soul that he can beat an innocent little puppy, I'll never understand. Three cheers for your human rescuer!! I hope and pray only good and wonderful things happen to you for the rest of your (long & healthy) life. You are a sweet, beautiful little girl. You deserve to be loved beyond belief!
Jun 28, 2013 LizzieBB
Thank you for sharing this story. Fate has smiled on Oori, and I am so thankful for the people in this world who pick a pup up off of the street and those that care enough to raise them. This is one adorable, loved puppy!

It's wonderful your sister was able to rescue Oori. Oori is a very sweet little girl.:) I pray her siblings are as fortunate. I can't get that horrible image of defenseless puppies being beaten out of my mind.
Jun 28, 2013 michelepat51
Oh you precious beautiful little girl, Oori! Bless your rescuer (beating wee pups with sticks - what is wrong with some people- Dave the Dog - you're on it)! May you share many long, healthy, happy years with your forever humans.

Oori, you win. Best. Story. Ever. And adorable too of course! Heartfel t kudos to your very brave and kind auntie for your rescue. I travel with my boy internationally and know how challenging the red-tape is. I can't imagine the hoops she had to jump through to get you home. I'm really in awe. Wishing you a long and happy life!
Jun 28, 2013 honey.pendleton
Puppies being beaten? This is so incredibly upsetting. I hope your sister never spends another nickel in that country. You're both wonderful people for saving this dog.

OMD! I think a movie is in the making. What an incredible story. How on earth did Oori and her siblings end up in the Himalayas? And what an amazing rescue story. Unfortunately some cultures do not respect animal sentience. Congratulations! Fave File

Jun 28, 2013 Economist
Blessings will come to you for doing this and a very very bad karma will come to that Police Officer (OMG a Policeman!) and boy for doing injury to defenseless pups. At some point (in years maybe) the same will happen to them. I for one will not be sorry.
Jun 28, 2013 nancybatt1
Love the eyebrows. Very sweet pup
Jun 28, 2013 amyliz

Such a lucky and adorable pup!
Jun 28, 2013 dad1941
God Bless your sister for saving this little soul and for Oori for having the best possible life she can have, I do hope the others got saved as much as Oori did and got forever homes as well, so sad that people like that have no heart for waht they were doing to beat puppies so young. God will punish those for their behavior. Much xoxox to you Oori and for the life you will have always.
Jun 28, 2013 jasonmk1

Thank God that your sister intervened for Oori. I can't imagine how much trouble it must have been to get her out of that terrible country. You are both hero's and I know there is a gold star after your names somewhere in the universe. And, ditto what Dave the Dog said!

God bless you and your sister. This little girl probably would not have survived if not for you. She is adorable and will love you for life for saving her. You are truly good people. Give her lots of hugs and kisses
Jun 28, 2013 MY1&onlyOREO
What kind of a person you must be in order to beat an innocent creature of God, such a beautiful little helpless life. As BostonMalteseLover asks, "What has gone so horribly wrong inside a person's soul that he can beat an innocent little puppy". Oori, you are truly touched by an angel; I should say, 'angelS' because they are 2 sisters who rescued you. Oori, you deserve to be loved beyond belief! I must say, I read your story 2 times and both times I had tears rolling down my face. I fear for your siblings, May God send wonderful people along to rescue them too.
Jun 28, 2013 buzzy
What an adorable lucky little girl. After reading your sad story all I can say is coodos for her for the risk to save you and much love and happiness to you both. *hug*
Jun 28, 2013 The Raven
Sweet adorable little Oori, I wonder what you karma is? You are so lucky ..... what an amazing story. Your Auntie must really have loved you to do such an amazing rescue. I am sure it was not easy. You have great things in store for you in your life. Dear Happy Lucky Puppy
Jun 28, 2013 LaurelG
Oh my gosh! You are the luckiest dog in the world. Fate was on your side that your mom now picked you! I only cannot stop wondering the fate of your siblings. It make me sick. Maybe your mom has some insight to help stop animal cruelty in the Himalayans. Count me in to help! You are so beautiful and adorable. May the rest of your life be easy breezy and all the love and belly rub you can stand!
Jun 28, 2013 goldenlover

Jun 28, 2013 nancy24tarn
Oori, you are truly one LUCKY dogie..Your rescue from the Himalayan mountains is amazing.. I am so sorry the rest of your family could not be saved..Animal cruelty is the worse thing ever.. Bless your little heart..I have been to Rochester, NY and it is a lovely place to play and run and have a lot of fun... Tons of biscuits and belly rubs from Cindy's mom in New Jersey.. Take care little one.

I love her!! What a cutiepie...Good job Katie (and the family!) :)
Jun 28, 2013 susannablues
Well done to your sister and you. Such an awful thing for the others but we can only do One At A Time and that will, slowly, make a difference in the world. (That's what I do, with elderly dogs that have been thrown away.)
Jun 28, 2013 Cindylu001
Oori with the unusual name and horrid start in life, I am so happy you have found such a great forever home. Who could do violence to an innocent puppy?!? I know people in other parts of the world regard animals differently than we do, but to hurt such an open, sweet face is beyond comprehension! Little Oori, you look very endearing and I'm so glad you got to safety, even if it took a long plane ride! Long happy healthy life to you, little one. Much love and many cookies!
Jun 28, 2013 DexterFubar
Thank you for taking in this beautiful puppy! My street rescue from Nicaragua and I wish you both many happy and healthy years together!

Thanks for rescuing this terrific little pup! Bless!
Jun 28, 2013 MizNanners
This story really touched my heart....a long and happy life to you Oori!
Jun 28, 2013 Jakesmum53
Dori I am so glad that you were rescued! It's a shame that the police don't have better things to do than beat up innocent six week old puppies! They are not very good role models either! I have lost all espect for them. Anyway, I know you bring great joy to your family and friends. Have a long and wonderful life. Loads of love and biscuits to you and your family! :-)

It's inconceivable how cruel some people can be. Thank goodness your sister was in the right place to rescue beautiful Oori. Many blessings to her and to you for giving this sweet girl a loving, forever home. I understand there are bad, but you are certainly some of the good people of this earth. Oori's story certainly warms my heart. All good wishes for her to have a long, healthy life filled with all the love and comforts she so deserves.

What a fortunate little girl you are!! your doggie angel was working over time for you that lucky day.And now you will never know - I pray - the abuse and pain of your homeland - just lots of love, treats, toys and family.Blessings little one.
Jun 28, 2013
Wow, this one is so special. Looks like an old soul. Too bad you couldn't have rescued them all. God bless!
Jun 28, 2013 longislander
What a beautiful girl. Isn't it sad that there are people in the world who would hurt a poor defenseless animal. Oori was definitely the lucky one. She's precious.
Jun 28, 2013 Athena7
What a lovely story. These dogs guarded Tibetan monasteries in the past, considered royal, I think. How sad to read of their fate today.
Jun 28, 2013 kfay58
A very lucky and beautiful puppy. Thanks to you and your sister for saving her. "Saving one puppy won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one puppy."
Jun 28, 2013 Critter Crazy
So glad she was saved and is now safe and happy and loved. I wish her siblings would have met a similar fate - but it sounds like their lives were cut short in a cruel manner, by cretins.
Jun 28, 2013 waterwriter
Oori is too cute for words! Why in the world would a policeman, and a young boy beat her litter with sticks? Sometimes I just don't understand people. And sometimes I do - many thanks to your sister for saving Oori from the beating, and to you for adopting her! She is a loving and loveable pup, and a lucky one, too. Enjoy her.
Jun 28, 2013 UrsaDad
A happy ending to a horrible story, at least for this one.
Jun 28, 2013 allmyshelties
This is the sleep of a puppy who is safe & well loved, as it should be. You & your sister or her angels & heroes. God bless all of you with a wonderful life. I can't understand why people don't think animals go to Heaven. They'll get there way before some humans will.
Jun 28, 2013 vorner
Heaven bless you, darling Oori. I'm so glad you found a safe and happy home. I hope your littermates were rescued too. What a wonderful person this young woman who rescued you is. Perhaps others interceded (I hope!). What kind of monster hurts a puppy?! A sad commentary on mankind. Long, happy life sweetheart! XOXOXO

Oh, I wish she could have saved them all!! That makes me want to scream. A policeman and a boy? Sorry, but I hope they rot. Bless those poor little pups. Thank God this one is okay. I want to cry for the other ones. I agree with "pupfanatic" and "Reacher Girl". Oori is adorable and I'm sure very sweet. That girl did a very heart warming thing saving this one. I'm sure if she could have saved them all she would have. Bless them all.

It brings tears to my eyes to think that anyone would beat puppies or any dog. This makes me want to hug my dog right now. These are not human beings...they're barbarians! God bless your sister for rescuing Oori and giving him the live every dog deserves.
Jul 1, 2013 padraigin6
Bless all of the humans involved in Oori's rescue, and I pray for the rest of Oori's doggie family. I too live in Rochester, NY, so maybe I'll meet Oori someday when she's chasing a stick on the beach or a frisbee in a park. A long and happy life to you, Oori!

a hundred thousand kisses and hugs for Oori. But my heart is bleeding for her siblings.
Jul 1, 2013 kpatrick
I am Oori's auntie who rescued her from Nepal. Thank you all for your kind comments. Oori is such a lucky, happy little puppy (and we are so lucky to have her). I would like to respond to the comments about people in Nepal. I lived in Nepal for several years, and the culture is one of many kind, wonderful caring people who have the utmost respect for animals. There, as well as here in the States, however, are people who do horrible things. This is representative of those few individuals- and perhaps illustrates the abuse they also faced- instead of being representative of the whole population. It makes me so happy that you enjoy Oori! And for those who commented on her eyebrows- the meaning of Oori is indeed "eyebrows" in the Tamang language (the language spoken in the area where I found this little lady!)
Jul 2, 2013 Judith Cox
OOri is gorgeous! What a beautiful baby! Lot of love and kisses and treats!
