After the love of our lives, Sassy the Second, a husky-corgi mix, passed away of cancer, my family and spent about a year coming to grips with her loss. We talked about getting another dog, but Mom was always resistant, and I still had a few months until I graduated with my master's degree and would have place of my own. Then, one day, I got a phone call: "Guess what I've got." Sassy literally latched on Mom (and Dad and I, one by one), and ever since (can it only be a month?!), her antics and smarts have kept us on our toes and in stitches.
