Truman came to us at six weeks old. His mother and father are black Labradors, believe it or not! He is so smart. He learned how to sit by eight weeks, lay down by ten weeks, and is house broken. Truman spends his days playing tug-of-war with his rope, playing outside with sticks, and taking naps on the cool tile of the bathroom floor. He is super energetic and loves running the backyard. Even though he is up every morning at 5am to eat breakfast, we wouldn't trade our perfect yellow lab for anything!

I have a black Lab whose parents were yellow and chocolate. recessive genes are interesting (although I realize black is dominant).
Thank you for sharing. You are in for a lifetime of love, faithfulness and complete devotion. (You might miss the days when you could shower alone though)

The cuteness of labs literally brings tears to my eyes. He also reminds me of my 2 year old Flaherty. He has the same white strip across his shoulders as Flaherty. Flaherty's mom was a black lab and dad was a yellow. They are so loyal and kind and just plain fun to be around. May he bless you as much as Flaherty has blessed us. Truman is perfect in every way. Wow this was tough for me to pick a picture. He is waiting to get the stick that he is sure has moved in the last minute. I love the one asleep by his bowl thinking isn't it 5 am yet. This is such a fun time. Maddie is almost 4 and still wakes up at 5:45 on the nose to eat and do her business then goes right back to bed. Such a great breed!! Many belly rubs.

and they just had 6 adorable all BLACK PUPPIES. GO FIGURE. They are Registered and are great hunters, and the puppies are just adorable, just like you are.

One more thing - we got our black lab, "Izzy" when I was volunteering at the Humane Society. A lady brought her in at 9 weeks to surrender her. But Izzy picked me to take her home, and that's where she's been ever since!

Labs are the best - and this little one is a perfect example. Their eyes are so expressive. They don't need to be able to talk you can tell everything they are thinking by those eyes. What a cutie. Labs are my absolute top favs too...mine is a black one named Keiko. So Truman, we both with you a looonnngg happy life filled with lotsa of toys and LOVE, because WE KNOW how happy you are going to make your family over the years! But I have one request while you are passing through your puppyhood and teething...
Plea se believe you're parents when they tell you that shoes, remotes and other assorted things that will fit in your mouth are NOT food! Trust me. Keiko still doesn't understand and she's six now, but believe you me, it will cause you tummy problems (yuck) and much of your parents money that is better spent buying you fun toys and bikkies!
