Waiskai's mom says: These are Waiskai's (pronounced wisk-ee) puppy pictures. In June of 2003 we were forced to put our 14-year-old standard poodle, Merlin, to sleep the day before we left on vacation to our summer home. Needless to say, it was a long trip from Florida to Michigan to the summer home. My husband and I would look at each other and tears would come to our eyes. We had hung Merlin's collar from the rear-view mirror and carried plenty of photographs of the ol' boy to keep us "company" and feel like he was headed to the cabin with us... one of his favorite places to go. At the end of July 2003, our dear friends chipped in together and took us to pick up Waiskai. When we arrived at Waiskai's puppy home, the breeder picked up this little teeny, tiny two-pound ball of fuzz and set him on the floor. He waddled his way over to me as I crouched on the floor. He instantly snuggled up to me, so I scooped him up and into my hair he went with that little puppy noise while he licked me silly! I laughed for the first time in a month! I set him down -- and right over to my husband and did the same! I'm not sure how it all got paid for or anything; I just know our friends took care of it. Waiskai rode home on top of my husband's head most of the way. He was instant therapy for the both of us. The hardest part once we got him home was fighting over who was going to hold him! :) We named him after the lake that our home sits on, Waiskai Bay. We figured it was only fitting as it was Merlin's favorite place and now Waiskai's too. He has brought so many smiles to our faces and so much joy to a very sad home, we are so thankful. There isn't a day goes by without a laugh straight from one of us regarding some crazy thing Waiskai is doing.
