lu.dog.luna, I ma going to answer your question about Kanga's name. It does not originally mean anything, technically. But it is not his full name. My best friend (his original owner) named him Kangaroo. Eventually it shortened to just Kanga. We still use his full name when we need to put emphasis on the fact that he did something bad, or something good. We say "Kangaroo!" Sometimes in Italian we call him 'Canguro' but he doesn't respond as well to that (it means Kangaroo.) He does know that when we call him Canguro we are pleased with him.
