Brandi

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

I got Brandi at 6 months, from a young friend. She purchased Brandi from a breeder with no idea the time needed to care & My hubby agreed to us taking the pup, (he isn't a dog lover, crazy right) so she wouldn't be placed in a shelter. My 3 teens and I took her to puppy school, potty trained her & loved her like crazy. It wasn't hard, Brandi was a little snuggle bug with attitude; loved to cuddle in the kids blankets, next to me under a quilt and play tug of war with toys. About 3 years after getting her, Brandi returned the favor & literally rescued me. I sank into a deep depression, after a major auto accident injury & being forced from work on disability. At times I could barely get out of bed or leave the house. Drs weren't able to help, but she was. Once everyone left the house for the day, would jump in my bed, a total no-no. She would lick, whine and even scratch at me until I got up. Sometimes she just sat and let me hug her and cry; others she insisted on a walk, jumping at the door until I gave in and drug myself out with her. Gradually I was getting up on my own, and willing walking her. We went to the beach & chased gulls, walked the woods & trails sniffing out chipmunks. We eventually worked up to about 2 miles a day. Though I continue to suffer depression, Brandi was the reason I finally realized something needed to be done and I sought help. We continued this routine for about 7 years. We could literally feel each other's moods. Brandi was about 9 1/2 when she started having trouble holding her urine. She would ask to go out, and have an accident before I could get to the door. After months of antibiotics, blood tests, etc. for urinary infections, we were sent to an internal specialist. An ultra sound revealed turmors on her bladder and her adrenal gland; she had cancer. They were inoperable & nothing could be done. Ten days after her 10th birthday, just two months after diagnosis, Brandi went to sleep in my arms. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but she deserved to be at peace and pain free. It is 4 yours since she crossed the rainbow bridge. Every year on the anniversary of her passing I take a walk thru the park we went to on her last day on earth. I remember her scurrying from side to side checking out all the smells. Her little tail waving in the air, with it's white tip like a flag, calling to me to come along. Brandi was my 1st dog and the love of my life. She is the reason I love "puppies" like I do and why I chose to volunteer at my local SPCA. Thank you Brandi for loving me and rescuing me from myself. You will always be my 1st love and live on forever in my heart.

Aries

Aries

Aries being mostly white, didn't meet boxer breed standards, and wouldn't sell. She was neglected & malnourished when she fell into my lap at 8 weeks. I saved her from being put down, with the intention of finding her a permanent home. Needless to say I couldn't give her up. Aries has turned out to be an expensive, challenging dog health wise. She has digestive issues, severe environmental allergies and breathing problems in extreme hot or cold. It's a struggle to keep her financially, but I couldn't give her up any more than a child with disabilities. She is now 6 years old and a Certified Pet Therapy Dog with our local SPCA. We visit nursing homes, homes with disabled residents and a home for unwed mothers and their children. I bring her to fund raisers and we participate in humane education programs as well. Image getting rid of a special "puppy" like Aries, just because she was the wrong color. She is my Big Mush, my wiggle butt, my slobber chops. She has opened doors and enriched my life in ways I never could have imagined. She is the reason I reach out to other homeless pups and help in any way I can. I love you with all my heart Aries!

Daisi

Daisi

Daisi was a gift from my son, when I was having a bad time in my life. He went into a pet store with a friend, never intending to get a pup. There she was, 1 of 12 puppies all black and white spots. While the others barked and jumped for attention, she sat back and just watched. He knew immediately that he had to take her out of there. Daisi is the most attentive, smartest dog I have ever encountered. If you looked up "poetry in motion" there would be a picture of her running & weaving around the hedges, just for the fun of it. She has actually torn both her ACLs chasing rabbits & squirrels. At 9 yrs old, you would think she was a puppy. Daisi is a little skittish, and independent like a cat. But, open a car door and she is all yours. Daisi is my girl with an attitude, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
