Alex was originally my brother's dog, but when he and his wife had my niece, they lost interest in poor Alex. They bought a house with a postage stamp-sized yard, and left Alex with my mother. Eventually, I appropriated him, and he is now very happy.

Paula was found emaciated, living in the woods raising three puppies on her own. A kind man found her and brought her and her puppies to the local humane society. The puppies were healthy and were adopted very quickly, but Paula required medical care. The Humane Society thinks that she was sacrificing herself to save her puppies. After a long approval process,I was allowed to adopt her. She is little more than a puppy herself, and is the most affectionate creature I have ever seen.
