BialyZeus's Puppy

In the beginning vets said I would never walk again. I was found as a stray at 2 months of age just before Christmas 2012 - Secondhand Snoots Rescue took me in and Lucida Puppy Fund sponsored my veterinary care. I had a wound on my neck and a fracture in my T11 vertebrae (was put in a splint for 7 weeks). My back legs were completely rigid and would not bend. The first vet I saw said I would never walk again because I had little to no voluntary reflex. Erin Kowalski, a canine massage therapist fostered me and began performing up to 3 hours of massage daily. After about two weeks I began to bend my back legs with help. In the third week I started to move my back right leg on my own. I was making progress on almost a daily basis and after seven weeks my splint was removed. The neurologist gave me a great prognosis and cleared me for rehab. Erin couldn't picture not seeing me continue to improve so she along with another family adopted me. I began physical therapy, laser therapy, acupuncture and underwater treadmill at Integrative Pet Care and continued to get daily massages at home. Although uncoordinated at times, I am now walking by myself. It is my goal to help other people recognize the impact adopting a dog with special needs has not only on the life of the dog rescued, but also the person that opens their heart and home to the dog in need. I now have my own Facebook page that is growing daily. My goal is to help other special needs dogs get adopted:
