The DailyPuppy wishes you and your pooch a very Happy Halloween! To help celebrate, we are featuring adorable puppies in costumes! We hope that these cute photos help bring Halloween spirit to you and your puppies.
What a great concept for the day - well done daily puppy! Oh my word! How can you pick from all these sinfully cute puppies. This one is ridiculous hence why I picked it. I think the little golden Witch is awesome as well, and I nearly picked the little wolf in sheep's clothing as heartbreakingly cute. Congrats to all of the silly fur mums and dads who submitted such fun pics -- Happy Howl-a-ween all
Oh my beautiful little baby - by far the best of the bunch. All the biscuits in the world sweetheart and the biggest hugs and cuddles ever. I am totally in love.
They're all CUTE. Those of you who think this is some form of cruelty - whassup w/that? If the owners made them run around like this for entire day.., maybe. Prob. just long enough for photos. But dogs wear sweaters when it's cold out - is that cruel??
thank you puppies and daily puppy for these wonderful pictures. this one looks like my dog. wish he had this costume. instead he is going as a police officer complete with hat and toy gun and toy cuffs. he enjoys all the attention, biscuits and bodily warmth he gets when hes wearing his costume on a cold halloween night.....
Hope the negative posters are as busy in places where there IS actual animal abuse. These dogs are not humiliated or abused. I don't dress my dogs, and am disgusted by animal abuse, but I see none here. Lighten up, for heaven's sake - this was likely a 10 minute bit of attention for the dog with a photo shoot at the end.
This pic is an oxymoron! A sweet beautiful golden in a witch's costome. For shame LOL. This is a beautiful animal, and all the pups look cute. Happy Howling!!!
As the owner of this dog, teddy, and the first one, Honey (the duck) - you only see a second of their life in their photos here. In both instances, the dogs were getting (a) treats, (b) losts of positive attention and (c) were wearing the costumes less than the time it takes to hear your local weather report. No harm was done to mine or any of the dogs here.
They are all so cute it is hard to choose! Happy Halloween and I am sure all of these pups were happy with the extra attention the got!! They all look well loved and happy!
This pup is adorable and doesn't look annoyed at all. Its wearing it's lovely ladybug costume with pride.
I personally don't dress my dog because he hates it and the first time we tried to put a sweater on he just squirmed his way out of it.
If a dog doesn't want to wear a costume, they will find a way out of it; period. Most look like they tolerate it like "sigh, what are my parents up to now?" and others love the attention they get when they are dressed up.
Thank you for including this photo of Honey as a Duck and Teddy, the Hot Dog. They are very honored to be here.
They are also featured in the Disney Family web site for their contest of photos of Halloween dogs. Their photos are not in the contest for this year - just used as samples.

Thanks .
This is my dog. Last year, he dressed up for an event where children are brought to the college campus where I work to trick-or-treat in safety. He was in costume for about two hours and loved all the attention. As a volunteer with a pet rescue group, I'm well aware of what is abusive and would never put anything harmful near my little guy.
Thanks to Daily Puppy for this delightful post and to all the owners for the wonderful pictures!
ive read some of the commentary and im glad the puppies are more easy-going than the commenters. I do know that dogs do have emotions and do express them and will let you know whether or not wearing a costume is ok with them. the comment about being mommy to a dog is offensive because some people cant have children of the human kind, and then there are some like me that know that they are meant to be parents for children of the furry kind exclusively. my cockapoo thrives in the attention he gets from his costume. on the other hand, my previous dog would let you know in no uncertain terms that he wont be wearing a costume---ever. just tune in. these puppy owners did and sent in these wonderful pix.
Picking a favorite from this bunch was VERY HARD!!!! They are all adorable! Thanks Daily Puppy for these cuties and for always starting my day with a smile!
They r all wonderful!!! However, doesn't it look like this little one is thinking "you have got to be kidding me". Happy Halloween to all of u, and remember don't eat to many puppy treats.
Baa baa, I am a dog in sheeps clothing. It was verrrrrry dificult to pick a favorite picture. They are all great. I picked this one because dogs are decenents of wolves. I am sure this adorable puppy is definatly not a wolf in sheeps clothing but a sweet and lovable pup. Thanks for sharing these cute pics with us.
The dogs are just dressed up for a little while for a photo op. My guess is they don't LIVE like this and I think people that go a little overboard for the most part love and adore their pets or they wouldn't be giving them the time of day. Owners are allowed to have a little fun. My dog doesn't like getting a bath but guess what, he gets one.
I am a "MOM" of several rescue dogs and pups, and taking care and loving them is exactly like being a MOM in every way. And yes I do love them like they are my "kids,"....they depend on me and look to me for all of their needs,...love, food, "doctor" visits, play time, "correction" moments, and just time spent with them like "family" time. After all, dogs are "pack" animals,...they like being with their owners and being together. I also work with animal abuse cases,...If they saw true abuse cases, it would bring on a real feeling of sickness and anger that they clearly have no clue about. I dress our pets up for photos and memories and "fun" times....my pets don't seem to mind at all...I have had pets that did not like to "dress up", therefore I did not do it...believe me, your pet will let you know what it likes and does not like. You should be happy that all of these little "cuties" have good homes with owners who love and care for them, and spend time with them. There are so many animals out there that don't have the hope of even one more day, and would LOVE to be included in these homes and activities. Spend some time looking into REAL abuse cases,...I think you would change your "tune" real fast. Thank you Daily Puppy for these sweet photos, and thank you to all the loving owners who spend time with their pets!
Thanks Daily Puppy for a special Halloween treat... all these puppies are adorable! I think it's cute that people want to share fun with their pups, and I'm sure they are not suffering any cruelty. If you don't agree with dressing up your dogs then just don't do it, but certainly lighten up. Dogs have a sense of humor. You do know that when they growl at you while playing tug-of-war, they're only kidding, don't you?
How would a puppy show that they are happy or "thrilled" in a photo? The camera can't catch a wagging tail. What's more, most dogs (those with flatter faces being an exception) have their mouths closed when they are at rest. When you see pictures of dogs "smiling", they're often just panting, an action that doesn't have any emotion source.
Wow this was just one wonderful photo after the next... I glad it wasn't a contest either. This is why I love dogs so much. They constantly bring a smile to your day.
I doubt very much that these dogs are feeling any pain, discomfort or degradation. Let's not become the moral majority imposing our contrived morals on others. I bet these dogs eat better than any of you. If you want to be outraged than go help out in a shelter. There are plenty of abused, neglected and unwated animals there who would love your attention and concern on abuse. Happy halloween.
I think the key in the debate here is respecting your individual pet, as well as each other. Both sides are expressing their affection for animals, whether or not you agree with how they do so. Please recognize this and be kind, not belittling, in your response. Personally, while I do not feel it is "abuse" I do think that most pets do not enjoy dressing up. At best these furkids do not understand what is happening, at worst they may feel "humiliated". If this is the case with your pet I would ask you to think whether your amusement should trump their unease. After all, other activities your pet may dislike but you do such as bathing, giving medicine, etc. are at least partially for their benefit. Is this? On the other hand, if your pet loves dressing up and the attention that comes with it, go ahead and costume them to your heart's content. Just remember the biscuits!
Love the wheaten puppy. Connor, 11 year old corgi, wore Vote yes on Prop 8 signs here in California. Connor loved the attention, the "work", and all the pats, at a rally near us. It was a fun event and a new experience in an old dog's very good life. Once in a while is o.k.
The ladybird puppy with the pumpkin (with the rockweiler-ish colours) looks identical to my dog. But we don't know what breed he is, does any one know?
P.S. These pictures are so adorably cute, all of them
Oh my gosh!!! These are all too cute! I wanted to comment on the ducky pic, it was my favorite, but this was my second favorite- I love them all! So cute!
I LOVE the pics , they are all cute and there is nothing wrong with them. People need to put they're negative responses to something useful, like animal abuse. 11 biscuits for all pups!!! :D Happy Halloween everyone!
OMG did you guys ever see "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock!! I saw this dog dressed up once like it had all these birds on him and when he walked around it looked like they were pecking him and they put fake blood on him and it was really gross but really creative and I couldn't really tell if the dog liked it or not but that movie is really good and I don't like birds anymore. But really that "sheriff" looks miserable! I know dogs hate it when they have little people pretending to ride them. Anyway I hope giving you all 11 biscuits can help. P.S. Did you every see that dog costume where it is a beagle and they made it look like he is being eaten by a alligator, it is excellent and very creative!
These dogs are not being mistreated and there is nothing wrong with dressing them up for a few minutes. And the mommy/daddy comment was just plain mean-spirited. Lighten up indeed. And happy Halloween to all!
People PLEEEESE! These dogs are far from mistreated!! Only someone who loves to have fun with their puppies would go through the coaxing and treats to get these pix!And jo-louise7 I think it's a mini Doxie, looks just like my little Doodie. Have a happy Halloween everyone. An P.S. some children aren't treated as well as the pups pictured here!
There are ways to disagree politely and respectfully. We are all here because we love animals - and people are animals too -so can we please show each other some love?
No one here has claimed that any of these dogs are abused. They have suggested that not all of them may enjoy dressing up. Even if you disagree with that sentiment is there really something wrong with someone having, and expressing, that view?
I do volunteer at a shelter, socializing shy and submissive dogs to prepare them for adoption. Many have been abused or neglected. I do not believe that anyone at Daily Puppy would do that to their pet. I do, however, see us being abusive to each other. Please forgive me my rant, but as this comes during a highly divisive time in my country, I am fed up with the incivility that has become commonplace. We all love dogs, on this we agree. When we disagree can we please, please, please be courteous? If just to get me off my soapbox. Thank you.
I love this little guy, too. Not sure if it is a b/w gsp, but looks so similar to mine. I came home a few days ago to find him sitting with the kids dressed as Hannah Montana, complete with long blonde wig. He was just hanging out with them. I cracked up and the look he gave me made me think that he thought that I was crazy. Enjoy the day. Lovely to see the positive and supportive posts in this community.
I thought I'd posted a reply comment about 4 hours ago - but must have pressed a wrong button????
Wanted to say - never intended for people to feel personally offended by any of my remarks - I like this site precisely because is it not nasty on the whole - we're all dog lovers.
Am possibly a bit sensitive about the Mommy thing - as someone who likes, but never wanted, children I get really riled when people talk about my dog as though she's some kind of child substitute - yes I was a bit thoughtless the way I expressed that - as well as my abysmal spelling - I think I'll return to my vow of never entering into web debate territory - too hard to get the tone right.
But I did want to say that here in East London the whole Halloween/Bonfire Night thing is a complete pain, we Brits don't havre the tradition, and on the whole parents don't want their kids knocjkong on stangers' doors in hackney :-) it's not fun, family, kids etc - just a whole month or so of kids letting off fireworks in the street at all hours, terrifying the dogs and cats. Last night was another night of my cats cowering under the furniture - fortunately my gorgeous little Schaunzer is completely unfazed by it.
Also, finally, never meant to imply that people dressing their dogs up were in any way abusing or being cruel to them - OK, I think it's wrong for lots of reasons but not that.
Have a Happy Halloween everyone
The cutest! The poor thing looks terribly stressed though. Lighten up! I am sure any dog would love the kind of attention he is getting from his obviously loving family! If you want to do something about abuse, go volunteer at the shelter. These dogs are well loved and cared for.
First of all, it is not cheap to purchase or make these adorable costumes. People that "abuse" their dogs won't even buy them food let alone drop $30 bucks on a custume that at best is on the dog 15 min. As a MOM of 2 cattle dogs I can tell you if the dog doesnt enjoy playing dress up he will NOT tolerate it!! MY older cattle dog loves to wear clothes. She struts around the house like a queen. She once wore a t-shirt for 3 days before I had to take it from her. She wanted it back. ASAP Now my ACD puppy bareley lets me put a collar on him. None of these dogs are being mistreated. All dogs should be so lucky to have "MOM's and DAD's" that love them!!!
They are all so adorable! I agree with "packermom"; it would be impossible to pick a winner! God bless all these precious pups! Much love from me, my dogs, Annie and Bear on Halloween! XOXOXO
It's still true that one hand washes the other in this life even if our dogs don't understand those words. We do things for them that we don't want to do (going outside to potty in the middle of the night, walking when we're really tired, etc). In turn they do things for us like wearing a costume for a few minutes, accepting a bath, etc. A few minutes in a costume is a small price to pay for a lifetime of love and good care. I'm sure each of these beautiful dogs would agree. Happy Halloween to all readers and their beloved dogs from Vandal and Missy who are wearing their Howl-a-Ween bandanas.
Heavens - what a can of worms I opened this morning...! I posted this morning because my opinion is that the dressing up of dogs is something which should not be encouraged. I did not say (or mean to imply) that to dress up a dog is necessarily abusive, nor did I say that any of the dogs whose photos are featured on the site today look in any way harmed by it. Of course, this does not mean that putting a costume onto a docile and well-adjusted dog for the time it takes to pose for a couple of photos will turn that animal into a monster. However I genuinely do feel very uncomfortable when I see the images - simply because this dressing up idea (especially halloween dressing up) is really a childrens thing - not a dog thing. I think dogs should be allowed to be dogs
i do not agree with the protesters. i have a yellow labrador "Sunni" and she loves it when she gets dressed up. as an example, last night, i bought her a halloween bandana for her to wear tonight. she pranced around, rubbing up against everyone, and her tail went crazy because everyone was telling her she was pretty and kept petting her. when it was time to take it off (so it didnt get dirty) she followed me around whimpering because she wanted it back. in cases like that, i dont see anything wrong with dressing up a dog. as long as the costume's not too tight or uncomfortable for the dog, and the dog doesnt fight it, there should be no problem. and it is the owners decision to dress up the dog. if you dont like it, then dont look at it. leave the rest of us who like to make our special friends look good( especially when they enjoy it) alone.
These pups are adorable with or without costumes...but I'm sure much more comfortable without them. Happy Halloween...and lots of treats for all of you!
Love this picture!!!! Looks like my Stevie. She always has sad eyes even when she is happy. Thank you all for the lovely pictures of you puppies and give them extra kisses and hugs today.
Hello Sweetie. You are sure a cute little "Howl-o-Weener." You don't look disturbed at all wearing the hat and dude on your back. Have fun, baby. Hugs & smooches from Elizabeth & Miss Katie =O)
they all look so cute! my dog doesn't like wearing anything so i don't force him, but i think it's so fun when they dress up for the holidays :) trust me...they will rip it off if they don't want it on, and the ones who keep it on love the attention. my boss has 2 huge dogs who dress up for the kids in the neighborhood and they LOVE all the attention they get from photos to hugs and kisses from all the kids! relax....it's for a couple of hours one night out of the year. that does not constitute animal cruelty.
have fun tonight :)
They are all adorable...too hard to choose just one. I am astounded at just how nasty some people can be expressing their opinions. Obviously my choice of name on here offends some people...such a shame. All the puppies look very loved (it takes time to put these looks together). Hugs and biscuits to all of the puppies...ADORABLE! To those who logged in just to make nasty comments, it's so sad that you are driven by negativity and didn't log in just to share your, hopefully, beloved pet.
First time commenter here. To those who have problems with the costumed pups today, please look back at all the pups who didn't wear anything (all other 364 days of the year) and you'll see that the pups have the same looks - looks that we all "AWWWWW" over because they are "shy", "demure", "sweet", and have "Princess Di eyes". Suddenly today they're unhappy and abused? Most likely they're wondering, "What gives today? Why is everyone making a fuss and taking all these pictures? Why are MOM AND DAD so giddy?" Just because you would prefer to not put your dog in a costume for personal reasons doesn't mean others who do should be judged by you. Seriously, come on, guys.
I have to agree -- I seriously doubt that anyone here would EVER mistreat an animal!! And to the person that was 'turned off' by people referring to themselves as mom and dad to their dogs, pets, etc., I can only say that our pets are part of our family. Even my parrots are part of my family and all of them call my husband Papa and me "Elly". For some reason, they won't call me mom, don't know why. lol I thought this was a wonderful, fun thing to do on Holloween -- show off our dogs in this way. And, of course, any dog would let you know immediately if they didn't want to be bothered. Please stop with the fault finding and just enjoy the photos. They were ALL wonderful and I am just not able to pick only one! I vote for all of them.
Happy Halloween to all the little cuties. I am partial to labs since Drake is one but this little one has the most calm and loving expression. They are all adorable and I hope they have a great day and are able to get the best doggie treats with some fun playtime too.
Omigosh ... puppies SO love us to let us dress them up this way! Thank you for sharing all these pictures.. just adorable! Happy Howl-o-ween everyone! Biscuits and bellyrubs, tricks and treats, from Pam in Toronto.
These ghostly puppies are all cuter 'n a bugs ear, but not one of them looks at all impressed! I particularly like the ladybug(?) with the pumpkin, and the bewitching lab. None of my dogs liked it either, but isn't it amazing what dogs will put up with just to please the whims of the people they own! Puppy cookies and belly rubs coming to all of them from Cheyenne and me.
Aren't these puppies just too cute! My cocker has been a "Soccer Spaniel" and one year he won a contest at the vet's dressed as an angel. He is a little devil and he was dressed so no one would recognize him! 11 biscuits!
I've always wondered what my dog would have looked like as a puppy (adopted him full grown) and now I will wonder no more!! Spitting image of my Muttley. I wonder what kind of dog this is?? Not sure my my guy is a mix of....
The dogs are NOT abused, neglected, or in pain in any way......I am sure they are not in their costumes for very long, anyway !!
THANK YOU, Daily Puppy, for providing us with a variable entertainment for the evening !!!! (:
what a beautiful snow white you are little one!! you look sooooo cute as do the rest of the costumed puppies!! have a happy safe halloween! you are adorable
sending a ton of biscuits and belly rubs with hugs!!!
Dogs should not wear clothes full-time. Their fur is adequate covering, and clothes may interfere with their freedom of movement and put a damper on their social interactions with other dogs, in which body language (and smells) is so very important. But just once a year, there's no harm in dressing up a pet for a fun photo. Generally the animal will only be in the costume for a short while, and some dogs actually enjoy "dressing up" and the extra attention they receive when they know they look their best. (I know a little diva named Precious who loves to trot around the house in her little doggy t-shirt - only on special occasions of course.) Those dogs who really HATE to wear costumes shouldn't be forced to, but for those dogs who may not love it but can put up with it for a few minutes or so, a cute, funny pic once a year is hardly abuse when it comes with 365 days of love and consideration - and a treat and a belly rub once the costume comes off.
I really would like to comment on every single one of these. They are toooooo cute! This one reminds me of my long gone companion and baby.. "Woolfgang" aka woolfy. Snif, snif. He loved to lay like this and would have worn a costume with the same sort of chivalrous attitude. Over 10 yrs and I still miss that guy.
go cowboys 100% adorably cutenez love it
(especialy the little man on him im 7 and am spanish and go to an english scool
and now im really good at ingles exept
i cant spell inglis properly)
i dequiro you witch means i luv you):
I LOVE ALLLLLL the pups in their fancy costumes, but had to pic this one because it looks so much like my oldest. I have 4 weiner dogs!!! These costumes are adorable and I couldn't pick one so I pick them all. I wish people wouldn't make negative comments, I don't think that is the purpose of this, I think these little furry "kids" are happy and well loved. Kisses and biscuits to all of you!!!
My 11 year old son posted the last two comments for "Brook" and I think he found it shocking that people judged other people and what they choose to do, so rudely. We have had some great fun on this website with our new puppy of only 4 months and he was referring to the picture of Chloe in the October photo contest biting the pumpkin. He did not realize that her picture was not posted on this day. I think the pictures are great and they bring much fun and laughter to life!! We have 4 boys and do you think that they enjoy having their picture taken all of the time...no, but I can guarantee you one thing, I am not being cruel!! We are making memories and I can't wait to look back on them all someday!
This one is my favorite!!! Such a cute little hot dog!!! I love that costume! All are cute, though, and are feeling the same degree of humiliation right now, I am sure!!!
GRRRR! I just wrote a thoughtful post that didn't go thru! I guess I took too long composing it. Well, bottom line, these dogs are NOT being abused--they were probably wearing them for a FEW minutes, just long enough to take the pic that their people can enjoy & share. The idea is to have a bit of fun, & share some smiles. BTW, when I was a kid, we had a miniature dachsie, who, very typically, had a Napoleon complex. We used to ask people if they liked his costume? (He wasn't wearing one...) We would then explain that he was really a German Shepherd in disguise! ;o)
"And they wonder why good dogs go bad!" He (or she) is a real cutie pie! Looks like he is ashamed to be seen with his human. You gotta love them! I don't think it is mean or cruel, just cute and FUNNY!!!!
