Rosie's mom says: Rosie was a rescue from the animal-control shelter in South St. Louis. We had just gotten her little brother, Porter, a week before, and we decided that we needed to get him a friend to play with while we were at work. I found Rosie on PetFinder and fell in love immediately. I found out that she had been at the shelter past the point where she should have been put down, but she was an office favorite so they had kept her just in case someone wanted her at the last minute. I went there and met her and picked her up within two days. Rosie fits into our family so well. She's so full of love! I can't imagine our family without her and I'm so happy we were able to save such a wonderful little girl.

She's wonderful and really does have soulful eyes.
Collies are old souls I think.
I adopted my girl Bella when she was six and it's been so rewarding.
Collies are lovely..as are retrievers so a combinatin of both?!?!?!

I notice that Rosie tucks one forepaw in sometimes when she lies down. Our rescued Gordon Setter does the same thing (always), but we think this is because someone made a hash of taking a dewclaw out before he came to us. Still, hope Rosie has a happy, healthy and long life like our Hamish. Horrible to think she may have been snuffed out before her life got going. Good luck, K

very lovely rosie, such soulful eyes and peaceful face. She is the combination of my most favourite two. I just have a collie puppy and considering a golden retriever in a few years time. You are so lucky to get them in one, and all the best bits. How can anyone put such an angle in sleep? Have a great life together!

Bless you a million times over for ADOPTING :) We rescued a litter of 3 pups that an deputy found stapled shut in a paper bag on the side of the road. Our Muggsy looks just like your Rosie. The parents must have gotten around!! HA HA HA, she is ADORABLE!

So glad Rosie was saved. To think that so many sweet innoncent dogs are put to sleep cause there is no one to care for them. It is so sad. I am glad you could save Rosie. I know she appreciates it and I know you will too.

Rosie and Porter are beautiful pups. I can seem the glamour in both of them as adults. Isn't it a shame that all these babies (young and old) couldn't be rescued instead of put down. Hugs and kisses to your sweeties.

This is what I like to see, stories about another life saved. Good for the shelter staff, giving her extra time...like they knew she was waiting for you! She really is lovely! I'm sure you'll all be very happy together...or, the future looks ROSIE!

I work at a Humain society and I so thankful we are a "no kill"shleter. I could never imagine how anyone could have the heart to even consider putting her down!!! SO ADORABLE!!! I want her! Just shows people there are so many puppies just as beautiful as her who need homes...

The word that crops up most often in these comments Rosie, is "beautiful", and that is exactly right. Not cute, lovely, or adorable, but beautiful. It's the whole package --not just the features, the personality, or that wonderful fluff of fur over both ears. This dog looks human, like a beautiful woman, actually. Possibly the best looking dog I have ever seen.
Your story just made me cry! When I was growing up I got my first puppy who was a sheltie that I named "Lassie". Real original, I know, but I was only 7. And now I just got my first golden retriever puppy...I'm now 23...Your dog is a perfect combo of my two favorite dogs in the world. I'm very happy that you got to save such a beautiful dog.

I have to comment on this picture because my dog looks like she could be Rosie's identical twin even down to the black spot on her tail! The resemblance is striking! We also rescued our dog, Lacey, from a local shelter when she was 4 months old. She is a golden retrieve/Collie mix and if I hadn't read that you got her in St. Louis I would swear they were from the same litter. Lacey has a bit more white on her but other than that the look exactly the same. She's the best dog I've ever been around! A joy to our family and best friends with my children. She's been super easy to train and is very sensitive and obedient! They are a wonderful breed!
