Wilbur's mom says: This is Wilbur the beagle. He is a 15" standard beagle from Hurricane Katrina. He was found in a canal with his litter brothers in St. Bernards Parish just two weeks after the hurricane hit. He came home to me with quite a few health problems (as one would expect). He is still afraid of thunderstorms and rain, but he is adjusting well. He was only five and a half weeks old in these photos, and weighed five pounds when I brought this little guy home. He lives with five other dog brothers and sisters in New Jersey. Wilbur and Tatanka Gertrude and Wilbur

Wilbur is a beauty. He has a great loving family now. It is too bad that he had such a rocky beginning. Hugs and kisses to him.
He is so very cute!! My brother has a jack russell/beagle mix and they look so much alike...especially in the first and seventh pictures!!
Wilbur is smiling in the first picture because he is so happy to be in a loving home! He is a handsome boy, that's for sure. Bless your heart for taking him in and helping him move past the hard times.

Oh, my, what a cutie. I remember when my girls were that age...ah puppies! Mine are nearly 8 years old now, and they are still loving, great dogs. Wilbur will bring your family years and years of joy. Love the pic of him and the St.Bernard...what an adorable pair.

First off...how great are you for rescuing this little bundle of cuteness!?? Way to go!! I know Wilbur will be so thankful to you! He is just adorable - I just want to scoop him up and give him a kiss!!! Thank you for being so kind to a dog in need. Forget the picture of him smiling, I am still recovering from the picture of him sleeping on his side. Look at that cute little belly and the paws that are almost as big as his head. I am sure that there is no cuter puppy than a beagle puppy (and I don't have a beagle).

Perhaps I'm an "easy grader," but Wilbur's unquestionably a perfect 11!!! That smile really is fabulous, as are all his other very "beaglesque" poses, particularly the one with his (very) big brother!

I love dogs, but I am partial to Beagles, I have a 5 1/2 year old female. Wilbur is so adorable. You are a wonderful person to have done what you did, to give him a loving and caring home. I admire you. He will bring you so much love and laughter. He is awesome, his pictures are great. BTW, many beagles (not just hurricane survivors) are none too fond of thunderstorms (to say nothing of July 4th fireworks); we always used to joke that our beagle had to roll up her ears and tuck them in to avoid the sound!

Wilbur is sooo cute, and looks a bit shy too! In his first pic, it seems like he's got a great big smile on his face. It always warms my heart to hear that other people love pets so much that they will rescue and care for them. Have you thought about using Bach Flower Essences "Rescue Remedy" for his being scared during thunderstorms? I have used it to great effect for my two cats we found as strays, and when we have moved. It really has a soothing effect on them. I heard it's great for all pets!
Wilbur is adorable! You are to be commended for what you did in saving this survivor. We have a 15" and aren't they so much fun! I love the way they cock their heads as if they understand every thing you say, and oh those big brown eyes.... Besides a great sniffer they have powerful hearing, too. We need to protect those little ears from thos loud noises. Sounds like you have a house full of love. You are a wonderful person for taking Wilbur on.
What a cutie pie. My husband used to have a beagle named Eddie. He adored him but was unable to keep him and had to give him to a friend. He lived a very LONG life. He was such a funny dog too. They are definitly one of a kind, aren't they?

Is there anything cuter in this world than a Beagle puppy? Wilbur is the poster puppy for extreme cuteness! What a little dollbaby! Wish I could snuggle up with him and kiss him a million times! Kudos to you for rescuing Wilbur!
